The purpose of Lambda Theta Alpha shall be to provide a sisterhood based on Unity, Love, and Respect in an effort to foster the development of strong leaders who will then provide and practice political, social and cultural activities. It shall also be the purpose of Lambda Theta Alpha to promote unity through charitable and educational programs, maintain a higher standard of learning and serve as a voice for all students. 

Lambda Theta Alpha is not just an organization, it's a sisterhood. Since our founding in 1975, Lambda Theta Alpha has evolved and continues to be a leader within the fraternal community while remaining true to our Founders’ purpose and mission: to establish a sisterhood based on unity, love, and respect, and to serve as a support group that caters to the needs and empowerment of individuals from diverse backgrounds in higher education.

Although the cultural climate has changed, these ideals still resonate with us. LTA has a motto: “Latin by tradition, not by definition.” As a non-exclusionary sorority open to individuals of all ethnicities and backgrounds, those who join LTA today continue to promote these values on their campuses.

The actions of our Founding Mothers have allowed independent individuals on campus to feel a sense of belonging, creating an environment that fosters the achievement of their highest potential. As a result, Lambda Theta Alpha has come to define a new role for the universal woman—one that embraces education, sets goals, and envisions success.
