Information for Incoming 9th graders

Dear Parents:

My name is Alex Bahe and I am the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Lincoln Southwest High School.  I'm very excited to meet and work with all incoming basketball players as we begin our off-season work this spring and summer.  I received your son's name from the LSW Athletic Office as an incoming freshman interested in playing basketball at Southwest next season. Below is a list of information and registration links for all that we offer this summer.

Silver Hawks Basketball Camp (Register HERE)

• Wednesday May 29 - Friday May 31 from 12:00-2:00pm 

• Our camp is open to all incoming 9th graders and will give each player an opportunity to begin to learn our basketball system and philosophy at LSW.  

• Attendance at our summer camp is HIGHLY recommended for all of those intending to play basketball at Southwest.  

Summer Weights & Skills Sessions (Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays starting June 3

• Weights:  7:15-8:00am (in LSW weight room) 

• Skills Sessions:  8:00-9:00am (in LSW gyms) 

Team Opportunities (Register HERE)

Southwest Lincoln Bison Jr. Team Tryout (Monday May 6 at Lincoln Southwest)

• The Southwest Lincoln Bison Jr. Team is a select team, not directly associated with Lincoln Southwest High School, that will be made up of current Southwest 9th graders & current 8th graders who will be attending Southwest in the Fall of 2024. 

• Selected players will practice 5 times in May & play in ONE statewide tournament held in Lincoln over Memorial Day Weekend.  

• Selection will be very competitive but we encourage all current 8th & 9th graders to try out.  Specific tryouts & practice times will be communicated to those who register at the link above.

• Important note:  Selection to this team has no bearing on your son's standing in the LSW program for next season. 

Summer League Teams (Tuesdays June 4, 11, 18, & 25 at Kinetic Sports Complex in Lincoln) 

• We will have TWO summer league teams for incoming 9th graders

• Our coaching staff will assign registered players to one of those two teams - with a limit of 24 total players.

• Both teams will play in the Kinetic Sports Complex High School League on Tuesday afternoons in June.    

• Important note: If more than 24 players sign up to play, we will use the Silver Hawks Basketball Camp (see above) as a selection process.
