Course Background
Funded by Jana and Howard Wolff, this course began in 2020 as a collaboration between Hanahauʻoli School, UH Mānoa College of Education, and Hawaiʻi State Department of Education

Goals:
To fight hate and support social justice education (SJE) in Hawaiʻi;
To provide an education in theories, research, and methods of social justice education;
To create ongoing learning opportunities and networks of empowered individuals and transformative leaders in education.
Cost: $142 FOR 3 UH Mānoa Credits (through UH Outreach College)
OR $100 refundable deposit if not pursuing credits
3 credits can be applied towards the
Sheltered Instruction Qualification requirement for HIDOE teachers.
Participants will
Read about 2 readings per week over 16 week course,
Facilitate discussion 2-3 times during semester,
Write weekly reflections (~150 words),
Present Mid-Term Project Plan on Mar 11
Present Final Action Project Plan on May 3
