General Technology Support
Lenoir-Rhyne's IT department offers a number of resources for students:
- The IT portal site (login with LR user name and password required) contains information for students about connecting devices to the campus network and about campus software.
- The IT help desk is available at 828-328-7350 to help with general IT questions (not including Canvas or Zoom).
Students in both face to face and online courses will likely encounter several platforms that LR provides. Please click on the appropriate link above or scroll down for help on those specific resources.
Canvas
Canvas is the University's learning management system. Students may get help with Canvas in the following ways:
- Students may use the Canvas support line at any time: 844-334-1449.
- Students may chat with Canvas support by clicking on the "help" icon on the gray, left-hand navigation bar in any Canvas site and then selecting "Chat with Canvas Support"
- Students may access help guides and videos for specific tools within Canvas by clicking on the "help" icon on the gray, left-hand navigation bar in any Canvas site and selecting "Search the Canvas Guides."
- This video gives a broad overview of features of LR's version of Canvas. Students may wish to jump to the 0:53 point in the video assuming that they have already figured out how to log in to Canvas.
Zoom
Zoom is the University's videoconferencing software. Students have Zoom accounts and are able to log in here select "sign in," then log in with LR user name and password, then select "lenoir-rhyne.zoom.us" from the drop-down menu). Students may get help with Zoom in the following ways:
- Students may call the Zoom support line at 888-799-0125
- Students may visit the Zoom help pages
BioSig ID
BioSig ID is used in online courses to authenticate that the person doing the work in the course is the same as the person enrolled in the course. Students may get help with BioSig ID in several ways:
- BioSig's general help page contains links to articles addressing common problems students may have.

ProctorU
ProctorU is an online monitoring program that may be used in online courses for testing and other assessments. Students can get help with ProctorU in several ways:

- This Google Slides handout provides information on how to use ProctorU in a visual/text format.
Lockdown Browser by Respondus
Lockdown Browser by Respondus is a technology that limits the websites and other resources that students can use during test-taking situations. It will most likely be used only in face-to-face classes. Students using their own computers will need to download and install Lockdown. Students can get help with Lockdown browser in several ways:
