Workshop on Low-Rank Models and Applications
LRMA 22

Welcome to the website of the 2022 Workshop on Low-Rank Models and Applications (LRMA) that took place 15-16 September 2022 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mons, Belgium. The LRMA workshop is sponsored by the European Research Council (ERC) under the COLORAMAP project, by the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique-FNRS and the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek--Vlaanderen (FWO) via the EOS project SeLMA, and by the Francqui Foundation.

LRMA 22 offered a vibrant and intimate venue for interaction between researchers from fields such as computer science, information theory, mathematics, and signal processing. The scientific program of the LRMA workshop included 8 invited plenary lectures, as well as 11 regular contributed talks and 17 posters.

LRMA22 follows LRMA 19, and is the second workshop in this series.

When and where?

The workshop took place in Mons, Belgium, the 15th and 16th of September 2022. Mons is a small city in the French speaking part of Belgium. It is accessible by train from Brussels within one hour (two trains per hour from Brussels center, one direct train per hour from the Brussels airport).

What?

The workshop focused on the use of low-rank models in signal processing, data mining and machine learning. This includes but is not restricted to all aspects of low-rank matrix/tensor approximations, such as nonnegative matrix factorization, (subspace) clustering, independent component analysis, low-rank matrix completion, sparse component analysis, dictionary learning, tensor decompositions, etc. The workshop is also interested in optimization algorithms that are central to compute such decompositions. Many aspects of this class of problems will be discussed including theory (complexity, identifiability, etc.), algorithms, and applications.
