Learning Resource Center
The International School Nido de Águilas - Santiago, Chile
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) was founded in August 2019. Our mission is to assess, identify, and approach the strengths and areas of improvement of Nido’s students with learning and developmental differences.
We are committed to embracing the students’ own resources and enhancing the skills needed to solve daily life challenges. Supporting students in overcoming their obstacles, boosting their own strengths, providing support and counseling to families, and actively collaborating with educational teams is our passion.
The LRC therapists utilize school-based interventions that follow evidence-based practices. The evaluations include local and international standardized testing. Our team is experienced in supporting neurodivergent learners, using a neuroaffirmative approach that respects and values the way each student thinks and experiences the world.
The team provides services during and after school hours, supporting students across all divisions (EYS, ES, MS, HS). There are push-in or pull-out services available, as well as teletherapy services.
How can we support your child?
Occupational therapists in schools help students participate successfully in learning and daily school routines by addressing barriers that impact their performance. They work collaboratively with teachers and families to promote each child’s independence, engagement, and inclusion in the educational environment.
Areas of OT support in schools include:
Fine and gross motor skills
Handwriting and visual-motor integration
Sensory processing and self-regulation
Attention, focus, and executive functioning
Social participation and play skills
Environmental adaptations and classroom accessibility
Task organization and work habits
Emotional regulation and coping strategies
Speech and Language Therapists support the development of communication and language skills.
Areas that SLP support in schools include:
Articulation (how the student pronounces words)
Language (understanding and using words appropriately)
Fluency (stuttering, difficulty getting the words out)
Voice (pitch, loudness, breathiness, hoarseness, etc.)
Pragmatics (how the student uses the language socially).
Speech and Language Therapists also provide support with alternative and augmentative communication systems, and executive functions.
This program has an additional cost. The team provides reimbursable invoices by local (ISAPRES) and international health insurance (Cigna, TRICARE, and others). Payment and reimbursement information will be provided in a free initial consultation.
