The Laboratory for Quantum Theory at the Extremes (LQuTE) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is a newly formed think-tank for theoretical physicists, mathematicians and philosophers to come together and address problems of common interest related to extreme physics (the very small, large, fast, cold, hot, dense, etc). Specific areas covered include high energy physics, nuclear physics, foundations of quantum mechanics/quantum field theory, quantum logic, astrophysics/cosmology, quantum gravity, philosophy of physics, mathematical physics, and post-quantum studies.
This summer workshop will be our inaugural event, an opportunity for researchers from these diverse fields to share their visions of quantum theory at the extremes.
Laura Schaposnik (Mathematics, LQuTE)
Nick Huggett (Philosophy, LQuTE)
Tom Imbo (Physics, LQuTE)
The workshop will take place in ARC, at UIC, Chicago, USA. We will be able to provide limited parking passes for those driving, but the Blue line stops just a few blocks from the venue.
Lunch and coffee breaks will be catered in ARC each day.
Workshop banquet will take place at 7:00 on Tuesday August 13th.
