WHITE BACKGROUNDS & STOCK PHOTOS:
A lot of the time, fake sellers will use stock photos of the product with white backgrounds. They even reuse each others stock photos in their listings. If you are seeing similar or the same image of the product with a white background, it's a fake, ignore these listings. Look for listings with the product in a real background, like on a table or furniture in the sellers home (although, this doesn't always mean it isn't fake. Also pay attention to the lps on the listing and make sure it isn't fake.)
AVAILABILITY:
Fake sellers will usually have an abundance of the product, pay attention to how much items they have, and how much they sold. It doesn't make sense for the seller to have that much of the product, as that many lps are difficult to obtain, especially of the same version.
WATERMARKS:
Photos in listings with a watermark or a name edited on it are most likely fake, but I actually don't know why, I found this info in my research.Â
STRANGE LISTING NAMES:
Fake sellers tend to have very weird titles that have errors or misleading/incorrect info. They will use words like "rare" and "new" whether or not that is actually the case for the product. Sometimes, fake sellers also exclude the pet number or put an incorrect completely random one.
TOO CHEAP:
If a seller is selling 10+ lps for $2.99 it's very likely to be fake. Same goes for one rare lps for $0.99, if the price is below the actual value for that specific lps, then in most cases it's fake.
REVIEWS:
Pay attention to the reviews, positive reviews doesn't always mean it's genuine. If there are little to no reviews, I highly recommend looking for a different listing. If there are many positive reviews that are vague, like "great, came on time, lovely product" etc, I would also avoid this listing, because it doesn't necessarily prove that it's genuine. No pictures in the reviews isn't very reliable. If many reviews mention a child enjoying the gift, then chances are this is a parent or relative buying a gift for their child, NOT a collector. They probably are unaware of fakes, and don't really care about it either. I would avoid products with an abundance of these kind of reviews. What to LOOK FOR in reviews is collectors who are experts at determining fakes, they will state if the pet is real, and the quality of the pet.
BRAND:
Listings with brands stated other than "Hasbro" are fake. This does not mean every Listing with Hasbro listed as the brand is real, though. This is a crucial step, pay very close attention to the brand!
EXTRA INFO:
"Authentic" being in the title does not make it authentic. Apparently, most lps shipping from Hong Kong are not real, but fake lps exist in nearly every country (it's just more likely to be fake from Hong Kong.)
Fake Lps listings via Amazon.
These listings from eBay and Amazon have the same exact pictures. This is a fake listing. Additionally, notice how the Amazon listing says "Littletoy." The brand should say "Hasbro" or "Littlest Pet Shop," NOT anything else. If it says anything other than Hasbro it's definitely a fake.
