License Plate Pursuit is a road trip game where you spot and collect license plates, on your own or with friends on a shared trip. This page explains what information the app uses, how it is used, and the choices you have. There is no company server behind this app collecting or storing your data, everything runs through Apple's own systems as described below.
When you set up your profile, you choose a display name and either a color avatar or your own photo. This is shown to other members of any trip you share, so they can see who found which plate. You can change or remove this at any time from Settings.
Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in with Apple, the app receives whatever name and email Apple chooses to share, based on your own Apple ID settings, including Apple's private relay email if you pick that option. This is used only to show you as signed in and is stored on your own device. We never see your Apple password, and we have no way to look up who has an account, since there is no server on our end at all.
A private trip stays entirely on your own device and is never sent anywhere. A shared trip, one you make joinable with an invite code, is synced through Apple's CloudKit using your own iCloud account, so that the friends and family on that trip can see the same plates, members, and progress. This data (trip name, dates, which plates were found, member names and chosen avatars) is stored in Apple's CloudKit under our app's own container, governed by Apple's own privacy practices for iCloud.
If you allow notifications, the app uses Apple's push notification service to let you know when someone on a shared trip finds a plate or joins the trip. You can turn notifications for any individual trip on or off at any time from Settings, or disable them entirely from your iPhone's own Settings app.
The free version of the app shows banner ads through Google AdMob. These ads are requested as non personalized, meaning they are not built from your browsing or app history and do not use your device's advertising identifier for tracking across other apps or websites. You can remove ads entirely with a one time in app purchase, processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details, Apple handles that directly.
License Plate Pursuit is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
