University of Texas, Teaching Assistant

In spring 2019, I am still an SI TA, for integral calculus.

In spring 2018 I was again an SI TA, this time for integral calculus for non-science majors.

In fall 2017 I was a TA for a first calculus course for biology majors. I was an SI TA, which is a more intensive TA position including weekly collaboration with other instructors to discuss how to better incorporate inclusive and collaborative learning strategies in calculus. I received the Frank Gerth III teaching excellence award for my performance in this position.

Mathily, Apprentice Instructor

In Summer 2015 I was an apprentice instructor (AI) at Mathily, an intensive mathematics summer program for high school students. As an apprentice instructor I was responsible for leading the classroom, designing lessons, assisting in the classroom, leading problem sessions, supporting the students as humans, and injecting absurdity wherever possible. I was AI for a course on linear algebra and a course on graph theory. Each of these courses was comparable to standard undergraduate semester course both in duration and in content. Mathily embraces an inquiry based learning philosophy, as do I.

Reading Courses

I have led six reading projects with undergraduates in areas of low-dimensional topology such as constructions in three manifolds, handle calculus, classification of surfaces, and tangle arithmetic. I facilitate these courses through the Directed Reading Program.
