Has your child experienced the loss of a parent, sibling, or close caregiver? Camp MAGIK is offering a free healing camp for children and teens ages 6-18 who are coping with the death of a loved one. The camp provides professional grief counseling, peer support, and fun camp activities in a safe and supportive environment. The Fall 2026 session will be held October 2-4, 2026, in Clarkesville, GA. Applications are due September 21, 2026. Parent support opportunities are also available.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program is accepting applications to provide holiday assistance for eligible children ages 12 and younger and adults ages 65 and older. Families must apply through the location serving their county of residence. Fulton County residents may apply online through the Atlanta Kroc Community Corps from September 14–25; online registration is limited to 140 appointments. In-person applications will be accepted September 8–11 from 12:00–3:00 p.m. Call (404) 638-7195 for appointment details.
Applicants must provide a valid photo ID, proof of residence, proof of need or income, birth certificates for each child, and each child’s clothing and shoe sizes. Proof of custody or guardianship is required when the applicant is not the child’s biological parent.

Tragedy strikes us all and has a way of taking a toll on each us differently. Whether it is a family member, a friend, a pet or even a physical item that we may lose, we will experience some level of grief over the loss. While adults may have ways of coping with the losses they experience, children may not have built up the proper coping skills to deal with what they are going through, and if they are very young, they might not have the vocabulary to truly express themselves.
