On November 19, 2019 members of the Lower Merion Ready for 100 Group proposed a RF100 Resolution to the Lower Merion Environmental Advisory Council. The resolution calls for the Township to take the steps necessary to (1) fully convert the township to 100% clean renewable electricity by 2035, to (2) convert the Township Fleet to electric cars by 2040 -as practicable and (3) to convert all remaining energy use to clean energy by 2050. The RF100 proposed resolution can be found HERE.
In February 2020, the Township's Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC) drafted and approved a resolution which is currently awaiting consideration by the Township Commissioners. With one important exception, it broadly meets the RF 100 Goals and timetables, except that it permits the township to treat energy from newly constructed or retrofitted nuclear plants as "Clean Energy". The National RF100 standards do not include new nuclear in the definition of "Clean Energy". The EAC version can be found HERE.
