The Phenom Pure
This desktop SEM is simple to use and can look at a variety of materials.
It can zoom in 34,000 times and see things about 25 nanometers across.
Your Samples
The samples that you bring must be able to fit in the sample holder. The sample can be up to 32mm diameter and 100mm tall(1 1/4" dimeter and ~3 7/8"). Roughly the size of half a roll of quarters is the biggest thing that can fit in the holder.
In the picture below the sample to be viewed is the little brown pill looking thing. The sample must be able to stick to double sided sticky tape to keep it in the holder. If the sample is very powdery or wet it will not stick and cannot go in the sample holder. Powders and liquids are bad for the microscope anyway.
Must be mostly dry. No liquids or volatile chemicals (things that evaporate quickly).
