St. James Missionary Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a pastor who has been called by God to provide biblical leadership, sound preaching and teaching, spiritual guidance, and compassionate pastoral care. We are a Bible-believing, Christ-centered Missionary Baptist congregation committed to worship, discipleship, evangelism, and serving our community while remaining faithful to God’s Word and Baptist doctrine.

We are seeking a spiritually mature leader with integrity, humility, and a heart for people who will faithfully proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, equip believers for ministry, and lead our church in spiritual growth and community outreach. We trust God to send the shepherd He has prepared to guide St. James Missionary Baptist Church into its next season of faithful service and Kingdom impact.

Worship Service every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. Weekly Bible Study at 7:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• To preach and teach the Word of God faithfully

• To lead or assist in leading corporate worship

• To administer the Ordinances of Baptism and Holy Communion

• To ensure that pastoral care is provided in visitations, counseling, weddings, funerals and ministry to the sick and bereaved

• To preside at all Church Conferences

Qualifications:

• Obedience to the call of God to the Pastoral Ministry (I Peter 5:1-3; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)

• Able to relate well with all ages and lead the church in spiritual growth, outreach and service.

• Licensed and ordained in the Baptist faith

• Knowledge of Baptist Doctrine, Policies and Procedures

• A minimum of 5–10 years (preferred) of ministerial, associate pastoral or pastoral experience

• To implement, along with the Church Council and Ministry Leaders, all actions approved by vote of the active church members.

• To organize, plan and execute the ministry work of the Church to grow the congregation through evangelism, discipleship and community engagement.

• To train Church leaders, teachers and other church officials on a continuing basis.

• To represent St. James Missionary Baptist Church at various civic, governmental and community functions.

• To work with the Deacon’s Ministry and other Church Ministries in filling the pulpit on special occasions or special events.

All interested and qualified persons must submit an initial candidate’s package by mail or email to St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Attn: The Search Committee, Post Office Box 2205, Henderson, NC 27536, consisting of:

• Cover letter of introduction stating your interest

• SJMBC Application

• Three (3) letters of recommendation (1 current pastor, 1 deacon or church leader and 1 personal)

• A current resume that includes a summary of relevant ministerial, professional and educational experiences

• Links to two (2) most recent sermons and one (1) Bible Study teaching.

• Copies of licenses and ordination

• Copy of certificates or diplomas of degrees completed

Final candidates must consent to a reference check, a background report or “investigative consumer report,” a drug screening test and credit and financial history review. All investigative reports will be treated in a confidential manner.
