Welcome to the Love group at the University of Toronto.
We are theoretical physicists and computer scientists focused on quantum information. Our research is organized around three themes:
QA3: Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Applications, and Quantum advantage
Quantum Algorithms: Design and optimization of quantum algorithms for current and future quantum computers. Using classical simulability and contextuality to better understand the transition from classical to quantum behavior in quantum and classical algorithms.
Quantum Applications: Using quantum algorithms, in combination with classical understanding and computation, to address use cases in fundamental physics through simulation of nuclear and high energy physics, and in chemistry, materials science, and pharmaceuticals through quantum simulation of the quantum properties of matter.
Quantum advantage: When will quantum computers ourperform current and future classical computers on a useful application? How can we answer this question with confidence across a broad range of applications? What new materials, or processes can be enabled by simulations on quantum computers that cannot be performed on any imaginable classical device?
