Love Photos

A group show conceived as a mixtape of songs gifted to a lover, Love Songs features photographic projects about love and intimacy from 16 contemporary photographers, including Nobuyoshi Araki, Ergin avuolu, Motoyuki Daifu, Fouad Elkoury, Aikaterini Gegisian, Nan Goldin, Ren Groebli, Herv Guibert, Sheree Hovsepian, Clifford Prince King, Leigh Ledare, Lin Zhipeng (No. 223), Sally Mann, RongRong&inri, Collier Schorr, and Karla Hiraldo Voleau.

Through the myriad lens of intimate relationships, Love Songs brings together series dating from 1952 to 2022 by some of the leading photographers of our time that explore love, desire and intimacy in all their most complex and contradictory ways. The exhibition is the U.S. museum debut for work by Aikaterini Gegisian and Lin Zhipeng (aka no. 223), the first New York City museum presentation of the work of Sheree Hovsepian and Motoyuki Daifu, and the U.S. debut of the work of Karla Hiraldo Voleau.

Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans has announced the kickoff of a photo contest designed to highlight the autumn season and celebrate the change of colors. Beginning today, residents are encouraged to submit photos capturing the fall colors emerging across Wayne County for a chance to win one of several prizes including Detroit Lions suite ticket or tickets to a stage play at the Fisher Theatre. "One thing I truly love about Wayne County is the remarkable colors our fall season brings. From the trees in Hines Park in Westland and Elizabeth Park in Trenton to the beautiful Belle Isle State Park, Wayne County's beauty is all around us," said Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans. "I'm challenging you all to enter our photo contest and share your best photos with us. I can't wait to see how residents explore their community and all the photos highlighting the beauty of the autumn season in Wayne County."

There are a million and one reasons to love photography. And we want to celebrate all of the unique perspectives out there. We gathered up a mix of direct responses and inspiring tweets from the photo community to help illustrate just how special photography can be.

The artistic aspects of photography are what I first fell in love with: experimenting with subject, intention, style, technique and medium. With photojournalism, I love getting to know people and their worlds, as well as often helping to advance a story focused on social issues.

I love photography because it allows me to pursue both my hobbies and my career. It allows me to be both technical and artistic. It helps me showcase how I see the world, and how I want to see the world. It is simply everything all at once, and I love that.

Why do I love photography? It gives me the excuse and opportunity to visit and capture such beautiful places around the world. I particularly love the landscapes of Iceland and photographing them allows me to spend more time in that landscape, getting to know it well, in all kinds of weather conditions. I love to share my perspective on that beauty with people through my photos.

Photography has given me the tools and motivation to look closely at the world, to pay attention, to engage, to see in order to understand, and so has made my life richer. Some moments are laden with excitement and adrenaline. But beyond those fleeting encounters there is the steady work of seeing and making images that have some value, that can do some good. That is honorable work and I love it.

Here at Pacific Dream Photography, we are honored to capture moments that will simply be remembered forever. Our team of photographers has a strong passion for what they do.
