Everyone's enlistment timeline is different, depending on your medical history and availability to complete any required appointments or processing. However, you can do a few things to ensure your process happens in a timely manner: gather all documents ahead of time, such as your birth certificate, high school diploma, social security card, and other important documents. Additionally, be prepared to provide any medical documents relating to any illnesses, diagnosed conditions (past and current) or surgeries. Lastly, be sure to have any court documents or police records ready for any past violations, convictions, or law enforcement interactions.
Step 1:
Get prequalified. Your recruiter will prescreen you over the phone or send you an email with a prescreen application to check for any red flags that are disqualifying to enter, such as serious medical issues/law violations/drug use/etc. They can send you a practice test you can take at home to give you an idea of how you'll score on the ASVAB. If your prescreen and practice test scores are good to go, we'll schedule your initial appointment.
Step 2:
Meet to determine eligibility. Your recruiter will build you a profile in our system, and we will review all the necessary paperwork. They will go over all benefits, answer any questions, ensure you're ready to join and are open to current Louisiana Air National Guard needs. While we have career fields available and book a wide variety regularly, we cannot guarantee or create positions based on applicant's wants.
Step 2:
Qualify for the Military. Your recruiter will submit a scheduling request to MEPS for your ASVAB and physical. We'll complete your MEPS brief over the phone or Facetime to ensure you are prepared to go to MEPS. The physical is not a PT test. The physical will be checking qualifying factors such as vision, hearing, blood tests, drug tests, etc.
Once scheduled for MEPS, you will go down and complete your testing on the first day. You'll spend the night at a hotel nearby free of charge and do your physical the next day. Once the testing and physical are complete, you will know what jobs you are qualified to do based on academic and physical results.
Step 3:
Career Tours. Your Recruiter will take you on base to visit the shops and meet the Airmen of the Louisiana Air National Guard to choose a career that interests you. Once you have determined your job choice, you will proceed to schedule an enlistment.
Step 4:
