Oh, the first few seconds is still loud and then the volume goes to what you set it. I didn't realize it at first since my daughter was talking to me at the moment. Shoot! Maybe having to get an alarm instead of my phone until they can do an update!

The alarm in both sleep app and the clock alarm BLARE super loud when it first goes off. The first 2 seconds are full volume, then it drops to the adjusted volume. Makes iPhone for a sleep alarm unusable.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to lower the alarm volume on my 12 Pro Max. I've tried switching "sounds & haptics" to "change with buttons" and this does not work. I've tried changing the volume while in the alarm app and it seems to play at a normal level while in the app but once the alarm is set and it actually sounds, it sounds at full volume. If I look at my phone the volume seems to come down to the initially selected volume, but that does me no good when the alarm is at my bedside table going off at full volume in the morning. Updated to iOS 14.3 and the problem does not seem to be fixed as of yet.

We appreciate you reaching out through Apple Support Communities for help with the alarm volume on your iPhone. We're certainly glad to look into it with you and help in any way we can. Is this happening with all alarms, or only your sleep schedule alarm? Is the option to adjust your Ringer and Alerts set to Change with Buttons? This option can be found under Settings > Sounds & Haptics.

Makes me jump out of bed! Hate it! Just figured it out! Setting-->sounds & haptics-->Ringers & alerts-->"change with buttons" needs to be ON! Tested it just now...DONE! Phew! I can wake up normal tomorrow!!! Woo Hoo!

Why a programmer/product soecialist or whatever they want to call themselves would see a need to change that to be a default without an explicit warning upon setting an alarm (like so many other useless warnings.. this one could have really been helpful) is completely asinine.

While testing the various workarounds for this issue, I noticed that my volume setting (mine is tied to buttons) is respected on my 12 mini with iOS 14 when my phone is unlocked, but the alarm blares like mad when locked (the expected state for a sleep/wake alarm).

If you are in the US, the Leeo works well for this. It can recognize three sound patterns: a US residential fire alarm, a US residential CO alarm, or a long continuous tone such as most leak alarms give off.

Its regular price is $49, but it is often on sale for $29. You plug it into the wall and it just listens for the sound pattern. When it detects a target pattern, it then can send a Wi-Fi notification, a push notification to your phone, and it also has its own IFTTT channel, which allows for integration with SmartThings.

Thank you for the explanation. I am new to this.I just want the device to notify me on the ST app when it detects a smoke alarm going off in the home. Not sure if I can add this as a device in the app or if I will need to add a handler to the hub.

Then you would use the free IFTTT service to automatically turn on the virtual switch whenever the Leeo hears a target sound. That way you have something in your SmartThings account which goes on when Leeo hears something.

Does your camera have the option to emit an alarm sound when it detects motion? If so, when you are in live view tap on the siren icon to see if it sounds the same.

I recall a post here, possibly 3 months ago that their camera had switched (by itself) to activate alarm / siren when motion is detected.

Firmware update glitch?

Hello there. I really want to create a loud alarm or alert sound, sorta like a intruder alert/burglar alarm that triggers when you step on a sequencer. My issue is coming up with a sound that sounds loud like an alarm. What sounds would I layer down in order to create this effect?

The siren that Ring sells is made for indoors.

You have few choices as to how to get a plug to turn on if the alarm goes off.

I use an app called simple commands.

You can connect your Ring account and one of the other companies that you can see in the app. The other company needs to have plugs.

Then set a routine that when the Ring alarm is triggered, the plug turns on.

It very easy to use the app and will give you much more control with the Ring alarm like set times to turn on and off etc. Hope this helps.

I have had my One SL speakers for about 6 months, an upgrade from the original One speakers. Last week at about 10:00pm one of the speakers started to emit a very loud high pitched alarm sound. The only way to stop it was to unplug the affected speaker. I rebooted the router (the system is on WiFi) and plugged the speaker back in and after some trouble got the speaker setup again.

Hi @dtfamily1. The sound you are referring to is the Exit Delay sound that will play to warn you your Alarm System is going to arm. If you would like to not hear this sound from your Keypads you can lower the volume for each Keypad in its Audio Settings. The volume will not affect the sound when the Alarm is alarming. This Help Center article will provide you with the steps on how to lower the volume for the Keypad.

i just heard a loud "alarm" sound. first thought it was my CO2 detector but then realized it was coming either from the roku box or the remote. it was quite loud and constant for about 15-20 seconds & then it stopped. any ideas? i set up the roku about a month ago & haven't had any problems.

I know what you mean. I clicked on a little button on the lower right side of the box and that alarm started sounding. It's easy to do by simply picking up the box. But the sound was coming from the box, not the remote. The remote was over by my chair several feet away. Anyway it stopped after a few seconds.

Good question! When your camera detects an activity (person, motion and sound) it sends you a notification to your phone. To play camera alerts through Nest speakers is not yet available. It can only notify you via Google Assistant if you have a Nest Hello doorbell (wired) or Nest Doorbell (battery) when someone presses the doorbell button.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I'm terribly sorry to hear that you're having these troubles. I understand how upsetting this could be, but I'm happy to assist you with this obstacle. I am afraid that as for a loud alarm, these cameras do not have that feature. They can alert you if there is motion detected depending on your settings.

Best Regards,

Brad

Thank you so much for your answer. So it's clear that the cam it self cannot do that but do you think it's possible to do this by combining other nest devices? I've heard that you can configure different actions in different devices so is it possible to make a nest speaker play a song/sound whenever a nest cam detected a person?

Why not integrate the eufy doorbell chime (during software update on both home base and chime) to serve as add-on siren when alarms goes off from eufy motion sensor and eufy entry sensor. At least you can place and plug this chimes anywhere in your home.

There is a serious problem with Poweramp equalizer on my phone. And I'm kinda scared because it'll probably damage to my headphones.

Sometimes when I switch apps, change song, etc. a deep bassy static sound comes at full sound, and from earphones, from speakers, its loud as hell. It is impossible to prevent, even volume button does not work for preventing it. It is a bug since beta era of Poweramp equalizer. I have no idea why it happens but... yeah. I like the overall product. I have Poweramp Equalizer Premium. But this bug prevents me to use the Poweramp EQ.

It happened on street once. Everyone looked at me, probably they thought I stole the phone from someone else and alarm sound just blasted lol. It blasts that deep static sound so loud that it sounds like an alarm from outside. It will probably damage to phone speakers and earphones if I continue to use it like that. Embarrassing.

Please fix this issue as soon as possible. Product has a great quality, I really enjoy using it but this thing makes me crazy. I beg you to fix it.

When the smoke alarm detects combustible products and goes into alarm mode, the pulsating alarm will continue until the air has cleared. For procedures on what to do when your alarm is in active alarm mode, see What to Do When Your Smoke Alarm Sounds.

Properly installed and maintained, smoke alarms are one of the best and least expensive ways to provide an early warning when a fire begins. Smoke alarms save lives, prevent injuries and minimize property damage by alerting residents early to a fire hazard.

where R(0) is the power of the sample and  is the threshold value varied to obtain each ROC. Note that in any practical application involving any detection algorithm a threshold value would need to be selected to achieve an acceptable false-alarm rate. This could be done adaptively, for instance, by sampling the ambient environment in the absence of an alarm. The second detection algorithm (PNA detector) reported an alarm when the periodicity of the sample exceeded a pre-specified threshold. The decision rule for the PNA detector was

"Children have smaller ear canals than adults, which intensifies higher frequency sounds. And the concern is not only with volume, but how long and how often children are exposed to noise. Common everyday noises, like road traffic or a television playing in the background, can also disrupt sleep, learning and quality of life. It's very important to prevent harmful noise exposures starting early in a child's life."
