Lou Cunningham
Original Fingerstyle Guitar
Original Fingerstyle Guitar
Stirred by the ethereal guitar simplicity of William Ackerman, the rugged melodicism of Glenn Jones, and the colorful guitar acrobatics of Andy McKee (not to mention dozens of others), Lou Cunningham began his guitar journey at the ripe age of 19 years; though he has seldom laid the guitar down since. An acoustic purist, Lou uses only two different tunings, a bare minimum of effects (the occasional touch of reverb), and plays only original tunes. He may not have the most astonishing technique in the world, but ornamental flair takes a backseat to melody, rhythm and thoughtful composition in Lou's music. He strives to create a mood with his music; a sense of nostalgia, and feelings of places. Atmospheric evocations of places near, far, familiar and new. There is a twinge of longing in the music, but moreover there is calm. The music creates a sense of peace and escape into a place of refuge.
Lou Cunningham is a guitarist originally from northern NJ, now residing in Oberlin, OH. He composes all original music, mainly for solo acoustic guitar, though he is also adept at drums, bass guitar, ukulele, banjo and keyboards. With years of stage experience playing several instruments in several bands, Lou has played professional gigs throughout northern NJ and northeast OH as both a solo act and a member of a band. As a solo musician he has over 7 hours of original material in his catalog. All of his music can be legally downloaded for free from his Bandcamp page (though, a small donation is always appreciated!).
Lou is currently signed with SixtySevenRadio, an independent record label that also operates a 24/7 internet radio stream. More information can be found at their website, https://sixtysevenradio.com/
