Orchard
Farmer Greg's Updates:
July 2024:
Summer is in full swing and the orchard trees have been busy growing fruit for harvest. The peach grove is looking great this year (last year we didn't have a crop due to a number of weather related events). Our goal is to start picking our Red Haven peaches at the end of July and start of August. Please check Facebook and Instagram for regular updates on what is available at our Farmstore/Bakery. The Gravenstein apple trees (or first variety that ripens) are also looking good. We generally use the Gravenstein's in our late summer pies. The Macintosh grove (the oldest part of the orchard with some wonderfully old trees) and other varieties have good fruit set which should keep our small army of part-time pickers busy when the time is right!
We are also preparing for the 2024 Granby Open Farm Day! Mark your calendars for wonderful activities, food, and learning throughout Granby on this annual event. This year Farm Day will be September 14!
We had a great visit with a bus of Summer program students from Auer Farm in early July.
Thanks for your support and for visiting our small family farm to experience the wonder and beauty of nature!
