Lorenzo Ditta is a pianist, arranger and composer. Born in Rome in 1983, he has collaborated in numerous jazz projects and has performed weekly in the most important clubs of Rome (Auditorium Parco della Musica, Villa Celimontana, Alexander Platz, Monk, Circolo degli Artisti and many others) for many years until 2014. Starting in 2007, he has played steadily in two Roman theaters, Teatro Vittoria and Salone Margherita.
He has worked as a musician and arranger with Italian pop singers and song-writers, and he has participated to the Sanremo Festival between the years 2003 and 2005. From 2008 to 2014 he has given concerts with the actress and singer Fatima Scialdone in the United States, Australia, Colombia and Argentina.
He has composed the song "Cinema delle Palme" which was part of the soundtrack for the film "Giuseppe Tornatore: Every film my first film", which was selected at the Rome Film Festival in 2012. He has been one of the founding members of the Hard Chords Trio (2008-2013), a jazz band that was characterized a powerful sound and re-elaborated rock hits from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc. In 2010 the trio released its first album, "Ram Colours" and in 2011 won the Elsa Morante Award for music.
Between 2002 and 2014 he has taught jazz and classical piano in Rome in several music schools, including CIAC Music School and Pentagramma. He now teaches piano privately.
He graduated in Modern Piano in 2003 at the CIAC Music School in Rome and received Grade 8 in Piano at the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music. He has attended the Siena Jazz music courses in 2003 and 2005. Among several renowned teachers, he has studied jazz with F. D'Andrea, S. Battaglia, F. Sferra, and R. Ciammarughi, and piano technique with A. Stella.
Since 2014 he’s based in The Netherlands, performing mainly with his Jazz Quintet his own compositions in many clubs of the area. A first album by The Lorenzo Ditta’s Quintet is planned to be recorded in the coming summer 2018.
