I am Lorena Harris, Assistant Professor in Biology, Educator Developer, CSTEP + STEM Programs Director at SUNY Schenectady.
Doctor in Biological Sciences and Educator with ten years of Faculty experience and seven years of experience as Administrator of STEM Programs (CSTEP +LSAMP) at SUNY Schenectady. As a Director of CSTEP I enjoy serving / supporting intercultural, multicultural, and underrepresented populations.
Lorena Harris is Assistant Professor of Biology and former Director of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) and STEM programs in the Math, Science, Technology and Health Division at SUNY Schenectady County Community College. She is also an Educator Developer and Math Science Technology and Health (MSTH) Faculty lead of the Nutrition program. Lorena first joined SUNY Schenectady in 2012 as the Coordinator of the Spanish Lab and was a participant in the 2013-2014 Internship Program for the Development of Minority Faculty, after a year teaching in the Boston Area, and two years as NIH Postdoctoral Fellow working on Cancer Research and Genome instability at the University of South Florida. She is Bilingual communicator in English and Spanish.

She is a member of NY STEAM Girls Collaborative, NGCP (National Girls Collaborative Project), AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science), APACS (Association for Program Administrators of CSTEP and STEP) and ACS (American Chemical Society). She is the 2024 Dr. John Staley Award for Outstanding Service; 2019 Margaret Ashida STEM Leadership Award recipient, educator, mom and a STEM Latina Role Model.
