Come learn more about our pack at our "Join Scout Night" September 20 at 6:30 in the Webber Cafeteria!!
Our Pack typically meets on Wednesday nights at Webber Elementary. Due to COVID-19, the location will probably NOT be the school and the day of the week may vary. We are trying to hold outdoor meetings where we can spread out as much as possible until weather prohibits that.
Our pack is always busy doing something. We try to have a theme each month that aligns with the Scout Law.
A typical month during the school year is arranged as follows:
First Wednesday: Parent's Meeting
Second Wednesday: Den Meetings -- These are small-group meetings with kids in their same grade in school. We typically meet at the school and use a variety of rooms for each group.
Third Wednesday: Pack Meeting -- The whole pack gets together and we do something fun together. Pack Meetings might be a service project, a guest speaker or just a big game that we all play together. We also will typically hand-out any advancements that have been earned since the last Pack Meeting.
Fourth Wednesday: Den Meetings -- Again, our dens gather and work on their advancements.
Each month also typically has some sort of activity above and beyond our weekly meetings. These activities might be our annual Pinewood Derby, Scouting for Food, a Pack Hike, a Campout or something else fun and energizing.
We try hard to keep costs at a minimum and make the scouting program affordable for all. Costs of the program can be offset by our annual popcorn sale in the fall and other fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Below is the breakdown for the 2023/2024 school year.
Youth registration fee: $80
Local Council Program fee: $80
2023/24 Annual Pack Dues: $125
2023/24 TOTAL: $285
Our annual Pack Dues will cover the following items:
All advancements (badges, belt loops, neckerchiefs at the end of the year, etc.)
2 pack campouts in the spring and fall (food, rental fees, etc.)
Blue & Gold Banquet (food, facility rental, entertainment, etc.)
Pinewood Derby car kit
Facility fees
Pack 128 may organize additional activities throughout the year that are not covered above and may require additional payment such as:
Sporting events like baseball, basketball, or football games
Additional overnight events (e.g. USS Silversides overnighter)
Pack day trips (e.g. ski trip, amusement park visit, etc.)
Scout Life magazine (optional but strongly recommended): $15
Uniform: Scouts are expected to wear the BSA uniform to most meetings. The uniform consists of a BSA Uniform shirt, BSA Belt (they wear advancements on their belts) and a neckerchief with slide. All other uniform items (pants, skirt, socks, hat, etc.) are optional in our pack and scouts can wear what they already have. A full uniform from the scout shop costs roughly $85 and can be used for many years.
To order Uniform Items online, use the Online Ordering Tool.
NOTE: If you join our pack in September - November, during our annual recruitment, you will pay pro-rated National registration fees + a one-time registration fee of $25. This will be handled in your online registration.A Cub Scout Pack is run by volunteers. We are always looking for Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, etc. who want to help out. Child abuse is a serious problem in our society, and unfortunately, it can occur anywhere, even in Scouting. Youth safety is of paramount importance to Scouting. For that reason, the BSA continues to create barriers to abuse beyond what have previously existed in Scouting.
The Boy Scouts of America places the greatest importance on providing the most secure environment possible for its youth members. To maintain such an environment, the BSA has developed numerous procedural and leadership selection policies and provides parents and leaders with multiple online and print resources for all Scouting programs.
All leaders are required to complete Youth Protection training. All parents are encouraged to take the training. To complete the training online, go to my.Scouting.org and establish an account using the member number you receive when you register for BSA membership. If you take the training online before you obtain a member number, be sure to return to my.Scouting.org and enter your number for training record credit.
Youth Protection training must be taken by every volunteer every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be registered. For more information about Youth Protection, please see the BSA Youth Protection website.
The Boy Scouts of America offers convenient training for parents who volunteer. As a new parent, you can learn all about Cub Scouting and how quality Scouting programs are built. Log on to my.Scouting.org and create an account to gain access to all available training content. For more information about training at all levels of the program, go to www.scouting.org/training.
