Property Description
Loon Organics is a diversified organic vegetable farm owned by Adam and Laura Cullip since fall 2008. The farm is situated on the fertile prairie soils of central Minnesota just 4 miles west of Hutchinson and 65 miles west of Minneapolis. The farm has been certified organic for over 20 years. Loon Organics sold its produce and bedding plants through a 150-member CSA subscription program, farmers market, and wholesale to local schools, restaurants, and food shelves. After farming and living here with our family for the past 17 years, we are ready to do other things in our professional life. We would like to sell the farm to someone with farming experience that will use the infrastructure we have developed here to produce local, organic food. This farm would be great for produce and/or pastured livestock. Our goal is to have someone continue the stewardship and food production of this unique, beautiful piece of land.
Option 1: 40 acres, Entire Farm
Price: $615,000
The above price would include the 40 acres of organic farmland, the home, the buildings, hoop houses, 2 wells (house and irrigation), 11-acre deer fence, coolers, and 2 greenhouses. Full property description and photos below. We have had the farm appraised.
Option 2: 20 acres, Home, and Infrastructure AND Contract For Deed other 20 acres
Price: $465,00 for 1st 20 acre parcel with home and negotiated price for 2nd 20 acre parcel
The above price would include the 20 western acres of the farm, including the home, buildings, hoop houses, 2 wells (house and irrigation), cooler and 2 greenhouses. Buyer would contract for deed the other 20 acres of land (11 acres enclosed with a deer fence).
Interest: Serious applicants only please. Applicant must have previous production farming experience. We are also prioritizing applicants that are pre-approved with a lender or are working with FSA on lending, emerging farmers, and those that can ideally close in late May/early June 2026. We are willing to work with an applicant that is applying for FSA loans. We are currently not accepting any additional buyers in the farm.
How An Applicant Will Be Chosen: We will have a committee of farmers and service providers to help us determine qualified applicants and get multiple perspectives and viewpoints. Applicants must meet the criteria listed above. Please contact us if you are interested in seeing the farm.
Community: Hutchinson has a population of around 17,000 people and is the closest community to the farm. It has big stores such as Menards, Target, Wal-Mart, many restaurants, a lovely library, and the Luce Line bike trail (which you can access from our farm's gravel road and ride into town on). Hutchinson has good public schools, including a successful farm-to-school program that buys products from local farmers for school meals. There is a good community of like-minded organic farmers and local food enthusiasts in the area that would welcome a new farmer onto this land.
Equipment for Vegetable Farm Available: We are having an equipment auction in November through Hines auction service. We will post details to that when available.
