These focuses could be considered a so-called platform. Ultimately, the ideas listed here should bring forth further ideas and discussions towards the future of Alaska.

SUPPORT EDUCATION

Education is critical towards the success of every individual. With this, a strong education system easily accessible to all will allow us Alaskans to work towards a prosperous future. Helping our population have easily accessible and quality educational resources will prepare us to solve environmental issues.

LOWER ENERGY COSTS

There are many initiatives already present in Alaska. We should support them!

• Nuclear: Eilson is developing micro-nuclear, which will power the entire base! Just imagine the capabilities for that.

• Solar: Solar technology is becoming better and better. It's a high initial cost, but it provides a long-term investment. SEGA (Sustainable Energy for Galena, Alaska) is working towards finalizing their solar project, helping work towards self-sustainability and lowering energy costs.

• Hydropower: Many communities are already using hydropower! Petersburg, Alaska is one significant example. Although not every community can incorporate it, this is something we should move forward with. ACEP is experimenting with a special hydropower technology with a device that floats on a river. It's experimental, but is exciting new technology that we should support! NOTE: we should have absolute caution to not destroy the environment, such as the salmon runs.

• Biomass: Biomass is sustainable to an extent. Galena, Alaska works on biomass, and it provides hard-working jobs for the community! Their operation works on harvesting trees and burning them sustainably for energy. The only caveat is that the land must be left alone for the trees to regrow naturally, which can take years.

BUDGET BALANCING

The idea is to balance the budget of individuals in Alaska and for the state itself. Investing in renewable energy projects will establish new jobs and economic opportunities, which in turn can support the state and contribute to keeping the Permanent Fund truly permanent. Alaskans should continue to get a fair share of the states wealth through this economic growth.

BETTER GOVERNMENT; LESS CORRUPTION

We should work towards getting corporate money out of politics! Many Alaskan lawmakers have been arrested for oil corruption in the state. We should keep it that way! Currently, it is essentially legal to be corrupt through monetary means. This is explicitly seen in Congress in D.C., with the Super PACs being the main influence. Our representatives should truly represent the people, and not the interests of their corporate donors.

CENTRALIZED ALASKA

Our representatives should be concerned about Alaska, not anything else. Furthermore, projects and financial initiatives should be Alaska-sourced and focused. For too long has Alaska suffered from outside companies taking our resources and not paying their tithe for the state.

• Hilcorp continues to extract fossil fuels from Alaska and pay ZERO taxes to the state of Alaska. This leaves Alaska losing millions of dollars every year.

• The LNG project is going to be developed by outside companies, leaving us at risk of their investment woes.

Oil companies have abused us and kept their cash in our politicians for too long. It's time for a change. It's time for our state to actually make money, drive the economy, and provide better services for the people focused in Alaska.

PROTECT FISHERIES, FISH RUNS, AND SUBSISTENCE

Fishing is the way of life in Alaska. Inherited by the indigenous peoples', this is a tradition in many communities and is ultimately economically viable.

The commercial fishing scene contributes a large amount of revenue to people and the state of Alaska. This is something that we must keep alive!

Subsistence fishing is a way of life of many and is better economically. In an age of globalization, grocery stores are available more than ever. However, in rural communities, such as Dillingham, a simple loaf of ultra-processed bread (supposedly the cheap option) costs $12. Just imagine the price of the other groceries.

The fish must be protected from environmental destruction. It is the Alaskan way of life and economy.

• Prevent future fish disasters

PROTECT LAND ENVIRONMENT

Subsistence life also includes hunting and gathering, and integral part of the indigenous culture and life of Alaska. Protecting the land environment is critical to protecting this way of life. 

We as a society already have things in place, such as fining people for littering. We should continue to move forward to continue protect nature!

There are already threats of AI data center developments in Alaska. With the current proposed plans, they all have similarities to the dangers of the Pebble Mine.

PEOPLE OVER PROFIT

This ties into the previous focuses of breaking down corruption, no data centers, centralizing Alaska, and protecting our way of life. Movements towards the development of data centers are purely for the profit of the developer and politician who allows it to happen. Projects should have the people in mind FIRST.

• SEGA's solar panel project is being developed purely towards establishing community sustainability and lowering energy costs. It is a non-profit organization.

Projects should be focused for the people and developed by the people.
