Want to extend or decrease the ring time on your Android phone? While there's no option to change the number of rings in your settings, you can often use a self-service code to set an amount of time the call will ring before transferring. If you're not worried about the length of time and just want to hear shorter or longer tones, you can select a different ringtone in your Settings. Read on to learn how to change how long your Android rings before your calls are sent to voicemail.

i agree the ring tones should be allowed on the text messages like they used to. I have contacts assigned so a text or call are the same sound so I know who it is and I'm a nurse so all the doctors are assigned a special sound (ring or text) so when covered in isolation gear I know if it's important enough to leave the room to check it or not!!! Plus when I'm on call the longer phone call tones used as a text sound help make sure it wakes me for emergencies!!! I see NO reason to stop us from having that choice like we used to have in all the other iOS. PLEASE RETURN THIS FUNCTION!!!

I have developed a sound board application, in which I set ringtones on long press. No issues about it. The ringtone is changed. But when i go to Settings->Sound & Display->Phone Ringtone my ringtone is not listed at all. And No ringtone is selected. How do I list my ringtone there?

The list of ringtones is pulled from the system ringtones directory, as well as from the SD Card, if it contains a folder named "ringtones". So what you may try doing is to also copy the ringtone from your soundboard to the SD Card, into a folder called "ringtones" (first perform a check to see if the folder already exists) at the same time that you set the ringtone.

Mac

Mac users can easily create ringtones for their iPhone using GarageBand. The process is straightforward and results in sending your ringtone directly to iTunes. Once your ringtone is in iTunes, simply sync your iPhone, then go to Settings > Sounds on your device to set your new tone.

Windows

Windows users should use Fried Cookie's Ringtone Maker, as it allows you to turn full-length song into a 30-second M4A file, which is Apple's proprietary file extension for iPhone ringtones.

Once you've installed a file browser, open it and head to the Download folder on your internal storage or SD card. From here, long-press the ringtone or notification sound file that you downloaded in Step 1, then tap the "Cut" button at the top of the screen.

The instructions are very clear but that is not the default folder where Android 7.0 stores it own ringtones. I want to add my own rintone to that folder so that I can make my ringtone permanent and not switched back to Android default everycouple of days!

Liked the article, but this mostly applies to android type phones. There are OGG ringtones on some old (pre-android) phones I have sitting in a drawer that I would like to download to my PC and maybe put on another mobile. Which program would work best for this and would be compatible with windows 10?

How long does a ringtone last?

The duration of a ringtone on an Android device can vary depending on several factors. By default, most Android devices are set to ring for around 30 seconds. However, users have the flexibility to customize this duration according to their preferences.

Why would someone want to change the ringtone duration?

Some users may prefer a shorter ringtone duration to quickly identify an incoming call without it ringing for too long. On the other hand, others may want a longer duration to ensure they have enough time to locate their phone and answer the call. It ultimately depends on personal preference and individual needs.

In conclusion, the duration of a ringtone on an Android device can be customized to suit individual preferences. Whether you prefer a shorter or longer ringtone duration, Android offers flexibility in this aspect. So go ahead, personalize your device, and choose a ringtone duration that best fits your needs. If you're not all that impressed with the inbuilt tones which come with your device, you may have already purchased ringtones from the iTunes Store. However, we will also cover how to create your very own ringtones from music you already have in your iTunes library!

But what if you want your iPhone ringtones on your shiny new iPhone or Android phone, or even on your computer? No worries - this is pretty easy to do, and we'll take you through the steps you need to accomplish this quickly and easily.

This first method is an essential skill to have on your toolbelt, as it's required to be able to transfer your ringtones to another iPhone or Android. Whenever there's a need to copy media from an iPhone to a computer, you can't go wrong with the TouchCopy app. TouchCopy is an incredibly handy and powerful tool which allows you to copy music, messages, photos, contacts and more from iPhone, iPod and iPad to your computer - functionality that iTunes simply does not provide.

If you just need to transfer some great ringtones to your new Android phone, or if you need to copy over all your contacts, music and photos too, you can use the trusted and popular TouchCopy software.

Great! Now that your Android contains the ringtones you copied from your iPhone; you can set them in your device Settings. Settings vary from device to device, but you can generally find your ringtone settings in Settings > Sound/Notifications > Phone Ringtone.

If you've recently bought yourself a new iPhone, you're going to want to access your existing ringtones on it, right? This is super easy for your purchased ringtones, but it's a different story if you want to transfer custom ringtones to your new device.

If you have ringtones that you've created yourself, ringtones that were not purchased from iTunes Store, or if you are running iOS 10 or lower, you'll need to use an alternate route in order to transfer ringtones from iPhone to iPhone:

In this section we'll show you how to make a song in your iTunes library your ringtone on your iPhone. Note that iPhones are restricted to only use files which are 0-30 seconds long as ringtones, so if you wish to use a song as your ringtone, you'll need to cut it down to your favourite bit.

Having generic ringtones is not fun. Probably you have a favorite song that you would like to turn into an iPhone ringtone. You can use iTunes to create a ringtone from the song. iTunes has a lot of limitations. Also, it is complicated to use. However, it is possible to customize your iPhone ringtone without having to deal with the limits iTunes presents. You can use a third-party tool known as iMyFone TunesMate to customize your ringtone. The features offered by this tool include:

I installed some custom notifications sounds on my BLU Advance 5.5 running Android 6.0 a few months ago and they've worked fine for a really long time until when recently all my notification sounds went back to default, so I try to change back to any of the old custom sounds that I'd been using, but they won't show up in the options. My custom ringtone sounds didn't change and still work fine, but my notification sounds just won't show up.

Although the iPhone 14 comes with a selection of nearly 30 built-in ringtones to choose from, with hundreds of millions of iPhones in the world there's a good chances are you've heard them all before somewhere. Thankfully, if you're hoping for a little more originality, there's a better way to go.

Note that you can only use custom ringtones for Apple's own built-in apps like Messages, Mail, Calendar, and Reminders. Third-party apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail all have their own sounds that can't be overridden in your iPhone's system-wide settings. Some third-party developers may let you use your own alert sounds, but that's entirely up to them.

Step 4: If you've selected ringtones, your list of custom tones will be grouped alphabetically at the top of the screen, followed by Apple's built-in ringtones and alert tones. When viewing tones for alerts, such as Text Tone and New Voicemail, this will be reversed, with built-in alert tones shown at the top, followed by your custom tones, and then Apple's ringtones at the bottom.

Ringtones are very small, so you don't need to worry about them taking up too much space on your iPhone. However, if you've installed a custom ringtone you no longer want cluttering up your ringtone list, you can remove it from there directly on your iPhone. Here's how.

The solution above is correct but it doesn't work on some later model phones; definitely not on my Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, and searching the forums not on other models as well. I solved my problem by putting my Sim in an older phone and using OldSchoolTech's method from that phone. After putting the Sim back in my S10 that now had the correct delay I wanted. (I used Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo, and I've since tried a Galaxy S6 Edge+ and that worked as well). Incidently, Tech support were not much help, incorrectly stating that the delay time could no longer be altered from the 20 second default. I phoned them back to tell them how I did it, so who knows, maybe they'll investigate why this standard method doesn't work on some later phones.

as long as the smaller SIM sits in larger "surround", flush (or flat), it will allow phone owners to solve this issue (the larger SIM is acting as a "template" in effect, so the SIM chip "sits" in the right place
