TYLER GRUTTEMEYER
(THURSDAY-SATURDAY)
Tyler Gruttemeyer (He/Him) is the Director of Choral Activities at South High School in the Omaha Public Schools district. He received his Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013, and his Master's in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Teaching Applications from the University of Northern Colorado in the Winter of 2021.
At South High, Tyler co-directs the Concert Choir and Freshman Choir, Musical Theater Techniques, Voice Class, and The Ambassadors Show Choir, and assists the Treble Show Choir "Amplify". In the fall of 2016, he was the recipient of the Nebraska Music Educators Association's “Young Music Educator of the Year”.

A dedicated educator with a passion for helping children find freedom through the performing arts, Jen began her journey as a performer and vocal coach, a role she embraced for over 15 years. She holds a BM in Vocal Performance from Taylor University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from University of Texas at Arlington.
Jen has professionally directed numerous musical theatre productions with CYT Chicago and CYT Dallas and began her career as a choir director in Keller ISD, where she earned Campus Teacher of the Year and district Top Ten Teacher honors.
Jen is an experienced show choir educator and vocal specialist with a strong background in competitive performance. As a choir director, she led two award-winning show choirs, including the only Intermediate groups in Texas to feature light shows.
She is currently the Education Director for CYT National and the theatre teacher for Lone Star and Bluebonnet Elementary Schools. She is passionate about supporting students and celebrating the artistry, teamwork, and innovation that make show choir unique. She is especially honored to be part of this event alongside her daughter, who is serving as an emcee.
ROBYN STARKS HOLCOMB
(THURSDAY-SATURDAY)
Robyn Starks Holcomb has been conducting choirs in the high school, middle school and elementary school levels, spanning public and private schools as well as community chorus and church settings throughout her career. The head director at Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls, SD, she is the conductor of Roosevelt High School’s Concert Choir, Executive Suite, Capital Harmony, Unity, Inc., Rider Jazz and together with colleague Mason Meyer, Mixed Chorus. Under her direction, the Roosevelt Concert Choir performed at the 2020 Central/North Central ACDA conference in Milwaukee, was a 2019 National Finalist for The American Prize Award in Choral Performance, appeared at the 2016 NC-ACDA Regional Conference, and has performed for state and regional conferences, in-services, and by invitations across the country including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Also under her direction, Executive Suite was honored to appear at the 2019 National ACDA Conference.
Outside of Roosevelt High School, Starks Holcomb has served as the Iowa All State Show Choir music director, has presented at MidWest ACDA Conferences, has presented for the Iowa Choral Directors Association Summer Symposiums and if you know her well, has a life goal of saving ALL the dogs.
MAX VRIJ
(FRIDAY ONLY)
Max Vrij (b. 2001) serves as Assistant Choir Director at Mansfield Legacy High School and is thrilled to be judging the Lone Star Show Choir Invitational.
Max earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas Tech University. During his undergraduate studies, he sang in the University Choir under the direction of Alan Zabriskie, performed with the Matador Singers, and served as a scholarship singer at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Beyond his academic work, Max interned with Susan Brumfield through the West Texas Children's Chorus (WTCC). Through the Center for Transformative Undergraduate Experiences at Texas Tech, he and his colleagues were named TRUE Scholars in recognition of their research and extensive work with WTCC.
Max also served as Bass Section Leader for the 2024 and 2025 TCDA Elementary Honor Choirs, directed by Dr. Edryn Coleman and Dr. B.E. Boykin.
An avid supporter of show choir, Max wishes all participating groups the very best of luck on stage today!

BRITTANY MEJIA
With a passion for show choir that began in childhood, Brittany Mejia has dedicated her career to fine arts education and growing a love of performance in students. After studying Music Education at the University of North Texas, she directed a competitive show choir program for five years, leading her ensemble to multiple awards and recognitions.
Now a high school theatre teacher, she blends her love of music and storytelling to inspire the next generation of performers. She is honored to serve as a judge and celebrate the hard work, heart, and artistry each group brings to the stage.
ALEX CARR
Alexander Carr has served as the Director of Choral Activities at Hebron High School since the fall of 2019. Prior to his appointment at Hebron High School, Mr. Carr taught in Fort Worth ISD, Keller ISD, and Arlington ISD. Choirs under Mr. Carr’s direction have consistently earned superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations. In 2023, Mr. Carr led the Hebron A Cappella Choir in performance at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. and in the spring of 2026 Mr. Carr will lead the Hebron Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir in performance for the Southwestern Division of the American Choral Directors Association. Presently, Mr. Carr serves as the Region 2 Vocal Chair
n 2014, Mr. Carr founded the Keller ISD 5th and 6th Grade Honor Choir, and after three years of existence, the Honor Choir performed as an Invited Performing Ensemble at the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association Convention. In addition, he served as the associate conductor for the Keller High School Chanteurs Varsity Treble Choir performance at 2014 Texas Music Educators Association Convention, as well as the 2017 American Choral Directors National Conference.
Mr. Carr holds both a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from Texas Christian University. Mr. Carr has studied with Dr. Eph Ehly, Dr. Sheri Neill, and the late Professor Ronald Shirey. At TCU, he also was as the choral conducting graduate assistant, director of the TCU Men’s Chorus, and the Drum Major of the Horned Frog Marching Band.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Carr is an active performer and adjudicator in the DFW area. Mr. Carr sings with the Turtle Creek Chorale where he serves as Artistic Associate and co-conductor of the Turtle Creek Chamber Chorus. He is also a founding member of the American Prize-winning ensemble Brothers In Song. He is an avid TCU supporter. When not rehearsing, you can find him at a TCU game or TCU concert. Mr. Carr maintains memberships in the American Choral Directors Association, the Texas Choral Directors Association, and the Texas Music Educators Association.
