This book was made 15 years ago with only one print run done; because of the extreme uniqueness, all the copies were sold quickly. Recently one box was found with limited copies available. I bought them from my father knowing he was at the top of his game when he wrote This Book. I recall this sheer genius as he owned 5 specialized consignment car lots; he literally opened these with little to no money, not being an owner’s son, not claiming to be from any Ivy league or special school, it was a university of life.
In addition to this, apartment complexes, telemarketing offices, and finally a comedy club; at the same time, while all of this was going on, making a stroller that he wrote on the back of that he took to all the theme parks.
I looked around, wondering why other kids didn't have these special strollers. I was always in the world's safest car seat that my dad had made for us kids; again, wondering why other fathers didn't make car seats for their kids. I didn't realize at the time how cool or maybe a little bizarre this was. My dad had patent pendings on wheelchairs, car seats, special safety devices for steps in your home, and my favorite the roller stroller.
I was young, but I remember when he wrote his book talking about how nobody else discussed negotiating with a customer in chapters of their sales books. This actually made my father angry so he was determined to make a book that discussed this. He also said his book was based on notes about being around some of the most incredible sales people that he encountered as a young man such as Bill Chalet, the number one Chevy salesman 10 years in a row, selling 51 cars a month. To Dave and Allen, the window siding team, selling door to door like Rodney Dangerfield did having an unheard of closing ratio of 80%. He talked about riding with them to their appointments when he was young, taking notes along the way.
Now my dad's major Focus is comedy, always comedy. He has a small marketing business, but he seems to have the bug and fever for comedy. One thing about my dad is he loves to make people smile and laugh. I asked him about this, he said, until a few years ago, that he didn’t realize it wasn’t everybody’s desire to make everybody laugh all the time and that he actually practiced meeting total strangers and making them laugh within the first 4 seconds of their aquaintance.
