On this page, we have some questions we encounter throughout the summer. Most of this information is in the parent handbook as well (to view the parent handbook, navigate to the '2026 Parent Handbook' tab).
If you have specific questions regarding the Day Camp program, please don't hesitate to reach out to Jess Rose at jrose@lombardparks.com.
Q: What are the Day Camp hours?
A: Day Camp hours run from 9:00 am-4:00 pm
Q: What if I need extended camp hours?
A: We have sunrise/sunset extended care options for Junior, Senior, Teen, and Sports camp; these come at an additional price.
Sunrise camp hours are: 7:00 am-9:00 am
Sunset camp hours are: 4:00 pm-6:00 pm
Q: What are the swimming days?
A: Junior Camp: M, Th, F 11:30 am-1:30 pm
Senior Camp: Tu, W, F 11:30 am-1:30 pm
Teen Camp: W, Th 1:00-3:00 pm
Sports Camp: Tu 11:30 am-1:30 pm
CIT (Counselor in Training): M, Th, F 11:30 am-1:30 pm (with Junior Camp)
We ask that you pack your camper with a towel, swimsuit, a change of clothes, sunscreen, and goggles (no nose piece allowed). It is recommended you send your camper in their swim suit so they don't have to take time out of their day to change.
Q: How does the swim testing work?
All campers will be swim-tested at the beginning of the summer to determine wristband color. If a camper wants to test to move to a different level, they will have an opportunity to swim test once a week until week 8.
Red: Non-swimmer or novice- only allowed in the zero-depth up to the whirlpool.
Yellow: Intermediate swimmer- allowed in Dolphin Cove (lap pool), Sidewinder and Pipeline (slides with a significant current upon exiting).
Green: Advanced swimmers- allowed in all areas of the pool, including the diving well and Wipeout (bowl slide which drops into deep water)
Q: When are payments due for camp?
A: Registration for Junior/Senior Camp, Teen Camp, CIT, and Sports Camp, as well as Sunrise and Sunset camp, must be done either online or in person at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center (820 S. Finley Rd, Lombard). Online registration is available for all options, but must be completed by noon on the Wednesday prior. Should any camp sessions fill, a paid waitlist will be created. All individuals on the waitlist must pay to hold their spot. If a waitlist cannot be accommodated, a full refund will be issued on the Thursday prior to the week of the camp waitlisted.
Q: What if I need to cancel my registration?
A: All Day Camp cancellations must be received by noon on Wednesday of the week before to receive a refund. Cancellations must be for the entire week/sessions. Depending on availability, there are no guarantees of being enrolled into other weeks due to camp ratios/ capacity. There will also be a $10 cancellation fee within the deadline. If it is past the deadline, no accommodation will be made.
Q: Where is camp held?
A: Day camp is primarily outside at Lombard Commons. They also utilize Paradise Bay Waterpark and Lombard Community Building. Campers will be off-site on their designated field trip days but will return to the Lombard Commons before pick-up time.
Sports camp is located at Four Seasons Park. Sunrise and sunset care for both camps is located at Lombard Commons. Participants in sunset and/or sunrise care enrolled in sports camp will be driven by our staff to Lombard Commons/Four Seasons.
Q: What days do the camps go on field trips?
A: Junior Camp (Wednesdays)
Senior Camp ( Mondays & Thursdays)
Teen Camp ( Monday, Tuesday, & Friday)
CIT (Wednesdays with Junior Camp)
Sports Camp (Various)
A day camp calendar is available to view specific field trip details, dates, and times, as well as a breakdown by week under tabs.
Q: What if my camper needs additional support during the summer?
A: Lombard Park District proudly partners with Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA), an organization that provides support to campers with specific needs and/or accommodations, to offer recreation services to participants. NEDSRA support staff is available to work alongside program participants. You may request NEDSRA support when registering for camp. There will be a section to fill out for any special accommodations.
Q: What should I do if my camper has allergies/takes medication?
A: When registering for camp, you will receive an ePACT link. ePACT is a website for secure information, including emergency contacts, authorized pick-ups, medications, allergies, etc. If your camper has any allergies that we should be aware of, please mark them on your camper's registration forms. We document all allergies and share them with our counselors to ensure there is no exposure to allergens. Further, if your camper takes medication (e.g., a Lactaid pill before lunch) or has emergency/rescue medication (e.g., an inhaler, EpiPen), a medical dispensing form must be completed. We also ask that you provide us with any medications they may need throughout the day, in case they are needed.
Q: What should my camper bring to camp every day?
A: Your camper should come to camp in comfortable clothes and gym shoes/closed-toe shoes. We are an active camp and move around a lot, so we recommend that campers not wear slides/flip-flops. Your camper should come to camp every day with a backpack, lunch, and a water bottle. Campers should additionally bring their swimsuit and towel on pool days. We recommend a swimsuit, a towel, and a spare change of clothes in the event a craft/activity gets messy, water games, or an accident happens. Sunscreen should be labeled with your campers name and put in their backpack. Campers are to leave all toys/personal belongings at home to reduce the chance of them getting lost/stolen. No money is allowed at our camp, and we prohibit the use of phones/smart watches (if your camper needs to contact you we will call from the camp phones!)
Q: How can I contact the camp staff?
A: Contact information is available on the Contact Information tab, as well as our parent handbook. When emailing the Camp, please include your camper's camp in the subject line (i.e., John Doe Junior Camp Early Pick-Up Today). This helps us stay organized and relay information to our counselors more promptly. Any questions or requests that you have can also be sent to this email.
If you are trying to contact our extended care staff, please call either the Junior or Senior phones- our Sunrise/Sunset Supervisor will have both phones on them for the AM and PM shifts. (AM care is 7:00 am-9:00 am, PM care is 4:00 pm-6:00 pm)
Q: Who can I contact for more information?
A: Additional information on Day Camp will be included in the Parent Handbook.
