Meet our grandparents, Berto and Nita! Both were born and raised in Luzon then later moved south of the Philippines in Davao city to continue their adventure and raised a family. They had 6 kids together and 15 grandkids to which four of their grandkids you might have met already - Abby, Cherrie, Aimee and Charles who are now the owners of Lolo and Lola.
All four of them grew up with their grandparents and enjoys bonding time with their Lolo and Lola in both their home kitchen and at the dining table but let's be real! They did enjoy the most playing kitchen and server in their grandparents bakery and cafe!
Growing up alongside their grandparents in the aromatic, flour-dusted halls of Double A Bakery, the sisters and cousins known as "The Tres Marias" have always had ambition in their hearts and dough on their hands! What started as helping out after school became a lifelong passion, led by Abby, the eldest. After conquering her Accounting degree, Abby brought her sharp eye for detail to the bakery as a supervisor before moving over to manage the family’s restaurant, Charligail’s FoodHauz.
So, who’s keeping the oven fires burning at the bakery? That would be Abby’s cousin, Cherrie! Taking the reins while finishing her Marketing degree, Cherrie is the family’s resident "party girl" in the best way possible. She turned that social energy into expert event planning, leading the charge for all the amazing catering partnerships between Double A and Charligail’s. Then there’s Aimee—the culinary explorer of the group. Even while balancing high school and crushing it in cooking competitions, Aimee is a total "no-brainer" when it comes to jumping into both kitchens to help wherever she’s needed.
Now, you might be wondering... where’s Charles? Well, while the girls are leading the way in front of the lens, the story wouldn't be complete without him! He’s been part of the rhythm since he was just six years old, captivated by the simple, timeless magic of making bread. He’s always been the camera-shy member of the family, you won't see him in the "Tres Marias" photos because he prefers the quiet hum of the kitchen, but he remains a proud part of the family legacy that started it all.
If you’ve stopped by lately, you’ve surely met a familiar face and wondered about the story behind the smile! Meet Alexis. Born in Japan and raised in Medicine Hat, Alexis brings a wonderful global perspective to the Lolo and Lola family. She is a Canadian who is always "game" for a culinary adventure—she has a true passion for exploring Filipino flavors and is consistently the first person in line to try our latest kitchen creations.
Beyond her love for the food, Alexis is a woman of many talents. When she isn’t busy perfecting her latest latte art behind the counter, she’s putting her ProServe knowledge to work as our go-to person for developing our future alcohol menu. Whether she’s steaming the perfect foam or helping us curate our upcoming drink selection, Alexis’s adventurous spirit and creative eye make her an essential part of our daily rhythm.
