Practical Information

The conference will take place in the beautiful sea-side Grand Hotel San Michele in Cetraro, Italy. All sessions and talks will traspire at the Conference Center. The Grand Hotel San Michele is located 5 km from Cetraro on Calabria’s Tyrrhenian Coast. This is one of the widest regions in Italy and among the least explored by foreign tourists. 

Below you will find practical information on how to reach the Grand Hotel San Michele by either plane, train or car. 

The closest airport to Cetraro is Lamezia Terme International Airport (SUF). Lamezia Terme is about 90 km from Cetraro. A shuttle bus service from Lamezia Terme Airport to the Grand Hotel San Michele will be organized for conference participants. Further details and schedules on the shuttle bus service will be provided closer to the conference dates. 

The two largest international airports in the surroundings of Cetraro are:

• Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

• Naples International Airport (NAP) 

From either Rome or Naples, Cetraro can be reached by train or rental car. The journey takes approximately 3-5 hours, depending on the chosen mode of transportation. 

• Arriving by car: Cetraro can be reached by car via the A2/E45 route.The gate of the entrance of the hotel is just north of Cetraro, on the road towards Diamante, in a zone called "Bosco". The precise address is Contrada Bosco, 30 Cetraro, 87022.

• Arriving by train: The closest railway station is Paola Train Station (at only 24 km from the Grand Hotel San Michelle), which is well connected to most major Italian cities (e.g. Rome, Naples, Milan) by high-speed and intercity trains. A shuttle bus service from Paola Train Station to the Grand Hotel San Michele will also be organized for conference participants. Further details and schedules on the shuttle bus service will be provided closer to the conference dates. 

You can find direct trains to Paola Train Station from the train stations of Roma Termini (~4-5 hours), Napoli Centrale (~2.5-3.5 hours) and Milano Centrale (~7 hours) on the Trenitalia website. All these train stations can be easily reached by the respective international airports if you arrive in Italy by plane. We recommend booking the train tickets in advance.
