Logan Sugarman
Founder and CEO of Refresh
Logan Sugarman is an entrepreneur, investor, and builder best known as the Founder and CEO of Refresh, a pioneering HR technology company reshaping the employee experience for today’s workforce. With over two decades of experience spanning Wall Street, climate technology, and enterprise software, he has developed ventures that connect data, logistics, and human behavior to create effective and scalable solutions.
Founder & CEO of Refresh: A SuperApp for Frontline and Deskless Workforces
Founded in 2007, Refresh is a customizable, all-in-one SuperApp designed to unify the tools, benefits, and communication systems used by organizations globally—especially for frontline, deskless, and hybrid teams. Unlike traditional HR platforms, it tailors each employee’s experience based on role, employment type, and location, ensuring everyone receives the support and access they need.
The Problem:
Most corporations provide employees with hundreds of tools and resources, with HR departments adding an average of 4.2 new apps per month. This creates inefficiency and costs over $100 billion in HR and IT time spent managing, training, and maintaining these tools. Employees lose approximately $400 billion in value due to poor personalization and underutilization, while vendors miss nearly $50 billion in potential revenue resulting from low engagement and accessibility challenges.
Under his leadership, Refresh has become a trusted partner for Fortune 500 companies, major unions, and national charities. The platform integrates with over 3,000 HRIS, LMS, payroll, and benefits systems, and offers built-in modules for wellness, rewards, communication, onboarding, and feedback. It eliminates complexity by uniting these systems into one streamlined employee experience.
In 2025, SHRM named Refresh as one of three companies selected out of more than 500 applicants for its Accelerator Program, recognizing its role in transforming workplace wellness and engagement. SHRM also invested in the company, highlighting its belief in Refresh’s mission and impact.
The platform has also received recognition from Accenture through its Global HR Technology Challenge and maintains partnerships with HUB International and UKG.
Co-Founder, Triangle Digital
Logan is also the co-founder of Triangle Digital, Inc., a company driving the transition to a climate-resilient future by linking large-scale data directly with financial assets. The platform gathers and analyzes data from various sources, such as billing systems and IoT sensors, to support sustainability tracking, benchmarking, and reporting.
Triangle was named Innovation of the Year in Carbon Markets for 2025 by Environmental Finance for developing stackable Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits (Water, Biodiversity, PFAs, PM, and UN SDGs) as RWAs that can be sold either together or individually.
The company issued approximately $265 million in carbon credits for Dynamic Carbon Credits and Water Energy Forward, now regulated financial instruments held in custody by banks. This development supports a shift from the traditional “Buy and Retire” approach to a “Buy and Bank” model.
Triangle also won the Brazil Central Bank Life Data Program for COP30. Its blended finance model introduced a “Carbon Warrant,” which combines Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits to reduce risks between lenders and borrowers.
Co-Founder, Balcony Partners, LLC
Logan also serves as Co-Founder and CIO of Balcony Partners, an SEC-registered investment advisory firm managing $100 million in assets. The firm specializes in volatility-based quantitative strategies and private equity-style investments in clean energy, including residential solar and tax credit optimization.
He is a sponsor of two Nasdaq-listed SPACs—GSR III and GSR IV. GSR III recently completed a major combination in the energy sector with Terra Innovatum, a company focused on expanding energy access through micro-modular nuclear technology.
Investments & Advisory Roles
Logan is an active early-stage investor with a portfolio of more than 100 angel investments, including high-growth ventures such as Scale AI and Liquid Death, as well as venture funds like Scribble and 776. He also advises several startups, including Diameter, supporting innovation and growth across industries.
Career Foundation: From Technology to Wall Street and Back
He began his career at Accenture as a Technology Strategy Consultant, leading teams that built data-driven CRM systems for E-Trade. These systems processed trade and account data while generating insights for customer segmentation and profitability.
Logan later held senior management roles at Exis Capital, Kinyan Capital, and Swiss Re, where he worked as part of a small team managing a $1 billion long/short equity portfolio focused on financials and macro strategies. As Co-Portfolio Manager at Midsummer Capital, he helped deliver a $150 million carve-out fund.
Board Memberships, Philanthropy, and Media
Logan is a longtime supporter of Minnesota Public Radio and Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater, where he endowed a scholarship, chaired the Junior Board (Second Decade Society), and serves on the Krieger School Advisory Board. He also supports the JCCA and has chaired the Religious School at his local synagogue, contributing to initiatives focused on education and entrepreneurship.
In addition to his professional work, he has managed art galleries in Minneapolis (Gallery 13) and New York (Lital Mehr Gallery), promoting emerging artists. He also executive-produced several Lifetime-distributed films, including The Secret Life of a Celebrity, The Au Pair Nightmare, A Deadly Price for Her Pretty Face, and Escaping Dad.
