How to Delete Your Account and Associated Data

In compliance with Google Play Developer Policies and data protection regulations, Locution provides two methods for players to request complete deletion of their account and personal data.

Option 1: In-App Deletion (Instant & Recommended)

If you have the Locution app installed on your Android device:

1. Open the Locution app.

2. Tap the SETTINGS button from the main menu or home screen.

3. Select the PROFILE tab.

4. Scroll down to the DANGER ZONE card at the bottom.

5. Tap DELETE ACCOUNT.

6. If you registered using email and password, confirm by entering your current password. If you signed in using Google, verify your account using Google Sign-In.

7. Tap DELETE to confirm. Your account and match history will be deleted immediately.

Option 2: Web / Email Deletion Request (Without App Installed)

If you no longer have the app installed or cannot access your device, you may submit a manual account deletion request directly to our data privacy team:

1. Send an email to oldtechnologies@gmail.com with the subject line:
   Account Deletion Request - Locution.

2. In the email, please provide:

   • Your registered email address (the one used for your Locution account).

   • Your registered in-game username (if known).

3. Our security team will process your request within 7 business days and send you a confirmation email once your account data has been erased.

What Data Is Deleted

When an account deletion request is processed:

• Personal Information: Your display name, email address, password credentials, and social authentication tokens are permanently removed from all active databases.

• Game Records: All match statistics, gameplay logs, word accuracy stats, and high scores are deleted permanently.

• Locally Stored Data: All locally cached stats on your device are cleared.

What Data Is Retained and Why

• Anti-Fraud & Anti-Abuse Retention: In accordance with Google Play Data Safety policies, we retain an irreversible cryptographic one-way hash (SHA-256) of your email address and your chosen player handle in a deactivated status.

• Purpose: This prevents bad actors from creating impersonating accounts, claiming deactivated usernames to harass other players, or repeatedly abusing guest/signup promotions. This retained record contains no personally identifiable information and cannot be used to contact or track you.
