Give Financial Support. It takes money to reach our goals. Volunteers may contribute their time and energy, but we also need equipment and supplies. It takes finances to purchase the necessary services.
Donate. Donate equipment, supplies, materials and any services you may be able to provide.
Lawn Maintenance. Trimming and Cutting the Grass can discourage unwanted visitors and animals. It also allows access for visitation.
Clean up the cemetery. You can discourage unwanted visitors simply by picking up trash, clearing fallen branches, and trimming grass and trees.
Add cemetery signage. Installing signage at the entrance of a cemetery indicates that people care for the site and that it is monitored to some degree.
Add site lighting. If power is available, install lighting to discourage vandals and late night loitering.
Take photographs. Documenting existing conditions helps determine the scope of damage if a cemetery is vandalized.
Educate the public. Create responsible stewards of cemeteries by educating the public on the significance of historic cemeteries. Lead cemetery tours and create activities that teach young people about local history and cemetery maintenance.
Survey the Lot. Survey and map the lot in order to plan for future grave sites and identify current plots.
Identify and Restore Tombstones. Identify, Locate and Repair damaged and aged tombstones. Provide gravestones for unmarked graves.
