Research Interest
Complex systems is an interdisciplinary field that studies the emergent properties, behaviours, patterns, and dynamics of the interactions of components that could be simple, diverse, or even complex. Our group research aims to uncover the fundamental basis and principle that organises these systems. We typically probe complex systems through the paradigm of statistical and nonlinear physics. Mathematical tools and computational methods of complexity theory are frequently used. Our research span the area of quantum systems, biological systems, social systems (social-ecological and social-economic), urban systems, health systems, climatic systems, and the foundation of complex systems. Our current active research is on the following topics:
Thermodynamics of Information Processing
Information Processing Thermodynamic Laws via Stochastic Thermodynamics
Work Extraction or Information Erasure with Correlation or Entanglement
Quantum Thermodynamics of Heat Engine and/or Refrigeration with Information Processing
Machine Learning and Complex Systems
Development of Machine Learning Techniques that Adapt to the Applications of Complex Systems
Integration of Complex Systems Paradigms into Machine Learning Methods
Urban Complexity
Deciphering and Modeling the Agglomeration, Co-agglomeration, and Change in the Spatial Morphologies of Firms
Elucidating Social Dynamics and Interactions through the Perspective of Complexity Theory
Statistical Physics of Sea Level Rise
Develop a Novel Probabilistic Framework using Statistical Physics and Complexity Theory for Sea-Level Projection
