Welcome to LockIn. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and LockIn (“we,” “us,” “our”) governing your use of the LockIn mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using LockIn, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. The Service
LockIn helps you discover, save, and share places to focus, work, and study — including cafés, libraries, coworking spaces, and other quiet venues. We aggregate venue information from public sources (such as the Google Places API) and from community-submitted reports about noise level, crowd, WiFi quality, stay-friendliness, and bathroom access. LockIn also provides tools to track study sessions, save favorites, and (for Pro subscribers) access advanced analytics.
2. Eligibility & Account
You must be at least 13 years old to use LockIn (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher). By using LockIn you represent that you meet this requirement. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
3. User-Generated Content
LockIn lets you submit venue reports, photos, comments, and bathroom access codes (collectively, “User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content but grant LockIn a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, display, distribute, modify, and use it to operate, improve, and promote the Service.You agree NOT to submit User Content that:· is offensive, hateful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or illegal;· contains false, misleading, or fabricated information about a venue;· constitutes spam, promotional material, or impersonation;· infringes anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;· attempts to dox, harass, or expose private information about any person.LockIn moderators may remove any User Content that violates these rules and may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate them.
4. Bathroom Codes & Venue Info Disclaimer
Bathroom access codes and other venue details on LockIn are user-submitted and may be inaccurate, outdated, or no longer valid. LockIn does not verify codes with venue staff and is not responsible for any inconvenience, embarrassment, or denied access resulting from reliance on community-submitted information. Always use bathroom codes respectfully and in accordance with the venue’s policies. If a venue has revoked a code, please report it in the app.
5. LockIn Pro Subscriptions
LockIn Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks unlimited venue views, unlimited favorites, advanced filters, 7-day usage charts, time-of-day insights, and bathroom code access. Pricing: - Monthly Plan: US$4.99/month, billed at purchase and every month thereafter. - Annual Plan: US$39.99/year, with a 3-day free trial. After the trial, your payment method is charged the annual rate and renews annually unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. On iOS, LockIn Pro is purchased and billed through your Apple App Store account using Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current rate unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain Pro access until then. On the web and other platforms (where available), payments are processed by Stripe and can be managed from your LockIn account settings. Prices may change with at least 30 days' advance notice. 6. Refunds
All Pro subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law (e.g., the 14-day EU right of withdrawal or as required by App Store policy). If you purchased Pro through the Apple App Store, refund requests are subject to Apple’s App Store refund policy and must be submitted through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com). For all other refund or billing inquiries, email theo.lockinsupport@gmail.com.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract data from LockIn via scraping or automation; (b) interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security mechanisms; (c) use the Service to violate any law or third-party rights; (d) circumvent free-tier limits via multiple accounts; or (e) misuse other users’ information obtained through the Service.
8. Third-Party Services
LockIn integrates with Google Maps Platform, Stripe, Resend, Apple, and Google sign-in services. Your use of those features is also subject to the respective third-party terms. LockIn is not responsible for third-party services or content.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of community-submitted information. Venue details, hours, photos, and crowd levels are sourced from third parties and the community and may be wrong — verify in person before relying on them.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LockIn and its officers, employees, agents, and partners shall NOT be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to LockIn in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$50.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account or by emailing theo.lockinsupport@gmail.com. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, for any breach of these Terms or for conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to other users, to LockIn, or to third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately; provisions intended to survive termination (including Sections 9, 10, 12, and 13) will survive.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this Section limits your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Effective” date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email at least 7 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of LockIn after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
