Lockdown Learn

This is the home of 'Lockdown Learn', an initiative for teachers & support workers to request help with remote & virtual learning during the UK's Lockdown 3.

We have a range of experts available to cover various topics, aligned to the National Curriculum, including prerecorded talks on demand, interactive live classes, or Q&A sessions. Whilst the live sessions are presently reserved for teachers arranging remote lessons for groups of children, please use the tabs above to explore new and existing resources available to everyone, including parents and the general public.

We will keep updating these pages as more material becomes available. If you know of a resource you would like us to add to the list, please just get in touch! You can also find us on Twitter @Lockdown_Learn

About Lockdown Learn

Lockdown Learn is the product of a single tweet in response to the UK national lockdown on Monday 4th January 2021. The tweet, by Natasha Stephen, offered to help support teachers who were now facing months of virtual & remote learning again. Natasha initially offered to support with some content around the Solar System & Geology linked the national curriculum, as she doesn't have any caring responsibilities of her own but was seeing friends with children (and teacher friends) panicking about what was to come. Natasha used to teach GCSE and A-Level Geology & Geography in London, so knew how much work went into normal lessons - let alone creating virtual content!

However, the tweet was extraordinarily well-received (thanks mainly to a retweet by Dara O'Briain!), and within 24 hours there were more than 150 requests for classes on the Solar System alone! Faced with a now inconceivable additional workload on top of a full-time job, Natasha created 'Lockdown Learn', to allow others to help out - delivering classes or preparing resources in those initial few subjects, but also offering up a whole host of new ones!

3 days later, there are more than 50 'experts' signed up to help prepare and deliver content during Lockdown 3.0, covering a vast range of subjects from Early Years to A-Level. It's taking a while to catch up with the 300+ initial requests for support, but we will get to them!
