Welcome! Lock Federated Church is a congregation that meets in a small, country chapel in Lock, Ohio. It sits on Lock Road, the border line between Knox and Licking counties, just a stone's throw west of Route 657. Though our membership is small, we gather for impassioned worship every Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. We also manage several ministries that serve our local community, including both Centerburg and Northridge school districts. We are a part of the United Methodist Church.
Our worship is welcoming and casual. There's no need to dress up. The service is easy-to-follow and consists of well-known hymns (played on piano, guitar, or video), prayer, scripture reading, and a short message. Occasionally we'll add a special contemporary or country-style song that fits the day's theme.
Worship begins at 9:00am and typically lasts between 30-40 minutes. About once a month we offer Holy Communion, open to all believers.
We offer Children's Church each week and we welcome kids of all abilities. Our teachers have experience with special needs students. A fun, age-appropriate lesson is provided.
After worship, folks normally stay a bit for a cup of coffee and a short Bible study led by one of the church's leaders.
Starting in June 2025, Kevin Bell of Centerburg has been leading our worship each week. Kevin started attending Utica UMC a few years ago, then became a member of Brandon UMC. He was then appointed as a Lay Supply Preacher to serve both Brandon and Lock on a part-time basis. His preaching style is relaxed and uplifting, and he often plays guitar to help lead music during our worship.
We share a Facebook account with Brandon UMC, our sister church. Watch for the latest posts on upcoming events, photos of recent events, and special news bulletins.
