Constituting Of Kirk Session

Anyone seeking admission to the Lord’s Table for the first time will be invited to meet with the Kirk Session after any of the services up until Saturday evening. A similar invitation will be extended to anyone seeking the Sacrament of Baptism. The Session will be closed after the service on Sunday evening.

Retiring Collection

There will be a retiring collection on Sunday 27th September at the close of the evening service to defray communion expenses.

Monthly Saturday Morning Prayer Meeting

The next Morning Prayer Meeting will take place on Saturday, 3th October, at 9.30am in the Church Hall. Tea and Coffee, and an opportunity for a short time of informal fellowship will follow immediately afterwards. All welcome.

Property Collection

A property collection will be held at the close of both services on Sunday 4th October.

Women for Mission Afternoon Tea

The WfM would like to thank the congregation and the wider community for their support, both financially and through baking contributions, to the Afternoon Tea held last Saturday.  The amazing sum of £820, which will go directly to ‘Sparkle Sisters’, was raised at this event.

Centre for Rural Ministry Conference

The Free Church Centre for Rural Ministry is to hold a conference which will carry the theme ‘The Island Church: Playing to our Strengths'. This will take place on Saturday 26th September from 10.30am to 3.30pm in the M.A. Macleod Memorial Hall, Kenneth Street. 

Further details, including participating speakers, are set out in a leaflet that is available at the Church door.

Praise Night - Tarbert

A Praise Night will be held at North Harris Free Church, Tarbert, on Sunday 27th September at 7.15pm. This will include a talk from the Hebrides Alpha Residential Rehabilitation Project. All welcome. 

Stornoway Christian Bookshop

Stornoway Christian Bookshop will be hosting an evening with award-winning author and speaker Kate Nicholas on Friday 2nd October at 7.30pm in the M.A. Macleod Memorial Hall. Formerly a national journalist, magazine editor and communications director, Kate is now an award-winning author and speaker. Her memoir To The Ocean Floor won CRT Audiobook of the Year 2024. In this moving and inspiring talk Kate shares the remarkable story of her own cancer journey and reflects on God's faithfulness through times of suffering, uncertainty and hope.  All welcome.

Christian Values in Education (Scotland) (CVE) -Two upcoming events:

First event  - CVE will be holding a meet and greet event for all staff working in island schools on Thursday 1st October 2026 from 7-8pm. The event will be held in the Failte Centre on Bayhead in Stornoway. We would encourage all staff who work in our local schools to come along for tea, coffee, and cake and to hear a little about the work of CVE.  

Second event  - CVE will be holding a Soup and Pudding fundraiser in the M.A. Macleod Memorial Hall, Kenneth Street, Stornoway on Saturday 3rd October. Please come along and help support the work of CVE (Scotland) between 12 noon - 2pm. CVE (Scotland)'s Outreach Administrator Lynn Macmillan will also be in attendance.  Donations of baking would also be much appreciated and can be dropped off at the MA Hall from 11am on the 3rd October.

Encouraging Women

Following on from our discussions earlier in the summer, we are going to look at some of the women in the New Testament over the next few weeks.  Meetings are all planned for a Tuesday and all are in the Church Hall - morning meetings every 2 weeks, evening meetings alternating with WfM events.  All women in the congregation and in the wider community are warmly invited to come along to these very informal bible studies.

Blessed To Be A Blessing Conference

Blessed To Be A Blessing Conference will take place on Saturday 19th September from 10am-3pm in the Laxdale Hall.The Speakers will be Debbie Nicolson and Lorraine Graham. Lunch will be provided. Donations will be taken on the day to cover costs, any excess received will be donated to Confide. All women are most welcome.

Sound and Computer Help

We are in need of people to help assist with the sound and computer duties in the church, especially for funerals and any other week day services. Training and guidance will be provided. Without any volunteers for this important duty then services will not be streamed and microphones will not work during these week day services.
