FATAL ERROR: Failed to connect with local Steam Client process! Please make sure that you are running latest version of the Steam Client and launch the game from Steam. You can check for Steam Client updates using Steam main menu: Steam > Check for Steam Client Updates...

It's straight forward, it says what you should do but is it doesn't work. I've tried restarting steam, reinstalling cs, reinstalling steam, tried a beta branch of steam, nothing works, still the same error. Please help!

I have re installed csgo and steam, done the ticking and un ticking run as administrator, I have checked for steam updates, I have downloaded it in another drive, I have switched steam to the beta branch, just everything I cant find any other solutions, someone please help

However, when I attempted to find this directory in Wine, for some reason Wine wouldn't show any folder names starting with a ".", so it couldn't find the .local folder in order to get to the Steam directory. I was able to resolve this by going up in the directory tree to My Computer and then drilling down into the correct drive letter for your Ubuntu file system, which for me was Z:. Note that C: is an internally used drive letter in Wine for compatibility with Windows applications and won't show your Ubuntu files. From there you have to find your /home directory and follow the folders down to your Steam directory, i.e. Z:/home//.local/share/Steam.

Hi all, this may be a longshot, but does anyone know how I can access the steam game files when using borealis? If you hit the "local files" on steam, it doesn't do anything. Normally if you install steam via linux, it'll pop open a directory in chrome, but this doesn't do anything. I've gone digging thorugh Nemo file browser and didn't find anything. Is this not installed through some sort of linux container?

What if we turn that process sort of inside out? What if we set up a caching Web server like Nginx locally? What if, instead of using the server as a reverse-proxy to cache responses for incoming requests from the Internet for a particular Web site... we use it as forward proxy (or just a regular proxy, I suppose) and cache the responses to our outgoing requests for Steam content?

But before we proceed any farther, we need to go over exactly what you need for your local Steam cache server. As with so many projects, you can take a huge variety of paths to get to the destination; you can do this with nothing more than Windows and your gaming PC, or you can use a Windows or Linux virtual machine, or you can use an actual physical Windows or Linux server. My online multiplayer game uses listen server. So a player would go and host and another can join. When launching through steam, I tested 2 game instances on 2 PCs within the same network, and both worked. Client B is able to detect Client A (listen host)'s lobby and join.

However, when the 2 PCs are using different networks (still within the same region), the clients can no longer find each other. Please I have been stuck for 4 days trying to get it to work now. I am using advanced sessions plugin, online subsystems steam, and blueprints.

I did most of the testing on a Windows 10 VM and a 1TB HDD attached over USB 3.0. I setup the VM using a bog-standardQEMU/KVM setup and set everything up through virt-manager in Linux. The only noteworthy part is that I set up thenetwork interface as a macvtap device, resulting in the VM showing up on my local home network as if it was a separatePC. That step was taken to avoid any issues with the Steam instances on different PC-s not being able to transfer datadirectly between each other.

I picked the fedora-xfce option because Fedora is great, and the XFCE desktop environment is not that resourceintensive. I also utilized the linuxserver.io package install modto install Steam on container startup. For networking, I created a separate Docker network using the macvlan driver toachieve something similar to the VM setup, resulting in the container showing up as a separate machine on the localnetwork. Inside the container I set up Steam to start on startup using standard GUI tools that XFCE provides for thispurpose.

This setup is not ideal and the Steam support page highlights it well.For example, this setup does not work in fully offline situations as internet connectivity is required for the initialsetup of the local network game transfer. I recommend giving that page a read to understand the requirements and technical specifics of this setup.

If you are unsure of yourself and these steps then please backup/copy the entire local save Grim Dawn folder before beginning any operations you are not fully confident performing yet. Copy it to an out of the way location for insurance just in case you do something wrong/unintentionally.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application, clearing the download cache, installing on a separate partition (both the steam application and the library), scanning the disk for issues and running as admin, including the Steam install.

the thing i was doing was trying to make steam games use my nvidia gpu and someone on a forum post said to install optimus manager, looking back im not sure if i was using the nvidia or not with steam, but now i cant launch steam games.
