It is a highly-educated, licensed health care professional whom can help patients reduce pain and help individuals get back to their day to day activities and recreation activities by improving their physical condition and their quality of life by means of a Health and Physical Evaluation and Prescription of a Science Based Rehabilitation Plan and a Clinical Exercise Program. in many cases without expensive surgery and often reducing the need for long-term use of prescription medications and their side effects.
A Biokineticist can teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. They examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move (e.g. go up and down stairs, walking, running, raising your arms overhead, etc.), reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, Biokineticists work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.
Lelethu was born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, SA. She completed Bhsc in Human Movement Science & Physiology and Honours in Biokinetics in Nelson Mandela University. She was fortunate to be a Golden key candidate during her postgraduate studies. She is under the pursuit to further her studies. She completed her Internship partly with Tas Chetty in Durban KZN and fully with Samantha Rawlins in East London EC of which entailed multidesplinary settings.
Lelethu has passion for Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Chronic disease management. Her interest also lie but not limited to Neuromusculoskeletal, Sport Injury and Post Operative Rehabilitation. Her passion lies with helping everyone in need of her skills based in Pretoria and Sandton, Gauteng.
She has also started a NPO to offer rehabilitation and therapy for elderly, chronic, people living with disabilities and excluded groups from disadvantaged walks of life since it is not available in the Public/State facilities.
