Katarzyna Hryniewiecka joined our team as a new phd student

Suelen Baggio joined our team as a new postdoc. Suelen, welcome on a board! 

Marta received funding for a research project entitled Validation of a new mouse model to study autism spectrum disorders  in the frame of the National Science Centre programme Opus 19.  A new PhD student and a post-doc are to be recruited in 2021 to implement the project.

Joanna Bem received funding for a research project entitled Mapping of 3D Chromatin Structure in Murine Thalamus  in the frame of the National Science Centre programme Miniatura 4.  Congratulations! 

Marcin Lipiec is among winners of the National Science Centre ETIUDA scholarship and foreign fellowship for advanced PhD students. He will spend six month in the laboratory of Michael Crair at the Yale School of Medicine to learn in vivo electrophysiology techniques. Huge congratulation!

Our new paper by Marcin Lipiec at al. on TCF7L2 was the most-read research article in Development in September. Congrats Marcin!

Lukasz M. Szewczyk together with machine learning engineers from SoftwareMill published an article on medium.com which presents created pipeline for finding and characterising astrocytes in microscope images was created. Published work allows our laboratory to detect astrocytes more effectively, and enables them to analyse their morphology, structure, number and length of their processes. This opens up new opportunities in analysing the cellular features of astrocytes, specifically its function and role in control of the processes of the brain.

Kacper presented himself very well on his final exams for the Master's Degree at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences SGGW. His thesis was on the impact of the TCF7L2 transcription factor on dendritic tree development.

Ola graduated with a Master's Degree from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences SGGW. Her thesis about energy metabolism in neurons was supervised by Kamil Koziński. Her presentation went very well and she passed the final exam with flying.

On 31/12/2019 Chaitaili Chakraborty finished her 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in our Lab. Thanks Chaitaili for these years and we wish you all the best in your  future endeavours!

Marcin Lipiec won a Young Investigator Award for an outstanding study submitted for the Polish Neuroscience Society Congress. He will give a special lecture at the Congress in Katowice on 30th Sept.

Marcin Lipiec, congratulations for being awarded for the best talk - 'The key roles of TCF7L2 in the development of the thalamus' on the international conference 'Aspects of Neuroscience'! The conference was held on 23 rd - 25 th November.

On April 14th, for the third time our Laboratory took part in the open days of the Ochota Campus. We opened our door to middle- and high school students and organised some hands-on activities.

Kacper was awarded a one year internship in the frame o the BioLAB program funded by Fulbright Polska to study biotechnology  at a selected American institution.

Marcin received a CAJAL stipend to attend a 3-week CAJAL training course Developmental Neurobiology and Pathologies in April in Bordeaux. Félicitations! 

Marta sailed through her final exams for the Master's Degree at the University of Warsaw. Her thesis was on The effect of the canonical Wnt pathway inhibitor on the development of GABA-ergic domain of the zebrafish diencephalon.

Łukasz and Tomasz were selected to present their awarded theses during the inauguration of the academic year 2017/2018 at the Ochota Biocenter (a scientific consortium of six research institutes located in the Ochota district of Warsaw). Łukasz completed his thesis under the supervision of Marta B. Wiśniewska at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology and Centre of New Technologies. Tomasz, a current member of our laboratory, completed his thesis under the supervision of Krzysztof Nieznański  at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology.

Part of the project entitled The involvement of LEF1/TCFs transcription factors in astrogenesis will be implemented in the laboratory of Anna Victoria Molofsky at the University of California, San Francisco.

On April 3rd, Tomasz Zajkowski was a guest on We are all Martians, a broadcast by the radio TOK FM. He talked about astrobiology and the search for extraterrestrial life. The broadcast (in Polish) is available at this link.  

On April 19th, Tomasz inaugurated his course on Astrobiology and the search for extraterrestrial life, organised under the frame of University of Warsaw's 'Open Univeristy'. 

On September 19th, at the Nencki Institute, Łukasz defended his PhD dissertation (summa cum laude) entitled The impact of polysialyltransferase 2 (ST8SIA2) on brain myelination. 

He got a badass coffe mug afterwards.

Nikola was awarded a travel grant from the Marine Biology Laboratory in Massachusetts, USA, to participate in the Zebrafish Development and Genetics Course. 

Marta and Andrzej received funding for their research projects in the frame of the National Science Centre programme OPUS10

Kamil was selected to present his awarded thesis during the inauguration of the academic year 2016/2017 at the Ochota Biocenter (a scientific consortium of six research institutes located in the Ochota district of Warsaw). Kamil, a current member of our laboratory, completed his thesis under the supervision of Agnieszka Dobrzyń at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology. 

Marcin was awarded a travel grant from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Japan, to participate in the OIST Developmental Neurobiology Course 2016.  

On April 16th, our Laboratory took part in the open days of the Ochota Campus. Our guests from middle- and high school had an opportunity to talk with real-life scientists and perform several experimental procedures.
