We organize regular workshops to enhance the graphic design skills of club members. Cover topics like software tutorials, design principles, and industry trends. This will help members build a strong foundation in graphic design. Not just the leaders of the club can do this, New Skill I learned can be part of it where someone learns a new skill they can teach it to the rest of the club. We are working to implement a "Skill of the Month" program where each month focuses on a specific design tool or technique. This encourages members to present mini-tutorials on their favorite tools.
Lending our extensive graphic design expertise, we aim to support other clubs or sports teams by producing high-quality designs for their merchandise and advertising materials. Through Skill Development Workshops, we have become equipped to create a wide range of visually appealing and effective graphic solutions tailored to each club's unique identity and objectives. Whether it’s designing eye-catching logos, crafting compelling social media graphics, or developing standout merchandise such as t-shirts, banners, and promotional items, we are committed to helping clubs enhance their brand presence and engage their audience more effectively.
Foster a sense of teamwork by encouraging members to collaborate on design projects. This could include creating posters for school events, designing a yearbook layout, or even collaborating with other clubs for joint initiatives. We have a request form for other clubs to submit their design needs. This ensures a systematic approach to managing projects. We showcase our completed designs in a gallery on this website or a dedicated social media page.
Participate in or organize design competitions. This not only adds a competitive element to the club but also provides opportunities for recognition and exposure. Look for local or online competitions that align with the club's goals. A competition is held and the best design is featured on a school store item, either clothing or other apparel. We are looking to introduce themes or constraints for design challenges to spark creativity, such as designing within a limited color palette or creating a poster using only typography.
Bring in guest speakers from the graphic design industry or take field trips to design studios and exhibitions. Exposure to real-world design scenarios can be inspiring and educational for club members. We record guest speaker sessions and have a resource library for members to refer back to. We are looking to plan virtual field trips to design studios or online exhibitions if in-person visits are not feasible in the 2024-2025 school year.
Assist members in building their design portfolios. Provide constructive feedback and guidance on how to showcase their work effectively. A strong portfolio is essential for those looking to pursue graphic design in higher education or professionally. In 2025, we hope to host peer review sessions where members can give and receive feedback on their portfolios and a place where we can invite professionals to critique portfolios and provide industry insights.
Use graphic design skills for community service projects. Design materials for local charities, fundraisers, or community events. It's a great way to give back while applying design skills in a meaningful context.
By integrating motion graphics, we can create dynamic hype videos, engaging recaps, and eye-catching social media posts for other school clubs and teams. These visually appealing assets build excitement, immortalize memorable moments, and boost online presence. Collaborating with LMTV further showcases the club's talent, enhancing the production quality of school broadcasts and fostering a sense of community among students. See below for more details.
Incorporating photography into school events and sports games can provide valuable support to various clubs and teams. Capturing score recaps and memorable moments, these photographs enhance storytelling and documentation, amplifying the visibility and impact of activities. Collaborating with other groups allows for the showcasing of talent while contributing to the success and spirit of school events, encouraging participation and engagement among students. See below for more details.
Through motion graphics and photography, we can develop a media team within the club that focuses specifically on motion graphics and photography. However, it should not be limited to just the people working in the team to be able to practice motion graphics and photography. This gives us the chance to collaborate with the school’s media or journalism clubs to produce high-quality content for school broadcasts and publications. (e.g. The Merionite, Student Council)
