FAQ

Can I attend the workshop if I do not have a position paper to submit or am not actively working in this area?

Certainly! We understand this is a new field and many people may not yet be established in the space. We welcome applications from individuals who would like to attend the workshop. If you wish to attend the workshop as an individual without a position paper to present, please send an email to Marianne (msa258@cornell.edu) with a ~250 word summary of your bio and your reasons for wanting to attend the workshop. Please specify if you'd like to attend remotely or in-person.

How will the hybrid workshop function?

The in-person workshop will be held on Sunday, May 12th, 2024 at the Hawai'i Convention Center. The workshop itself will be hybrid, and we encourage both in-person and remote participation. On the day of the workshop, all talks will be streamed via Zoom.

We will also host a 90-minute pre-workshop remote-first session on May 8th at 8am PST/11am EST focused on remote attendees. This session is aimed to provide a richer experience for remote attendees.

Do I have to post my paper publicly if I submit to the workshop?

You do not have to post your paper publicly if you submit to this workshop. While we have a camera-ready date and encourage authors to make their work shareable, there is no requirement to publicly post your submission.

What are the costs associated with attending a workshop at CHI?

All workshop attendees must register for the workshop, and may also wish to register for the CHI conference.

Interested participants can apply to the Gary Marsden Travel Award to seek additional funding.
