Members of the LLLs recently attended a Deming City Council Meeting. They presented a greenspace initiative that includes planting low maintenance flowering natives in the road medians, taking advantage of the water to the trees there, reducing labor to keep the weeds down, providing flowering natives for the pollinators, and adding beauty to Deming. The city manager, Aaron Sera, championed the initiative and assigned a county staffer to help integrate city workers with Deming volunteers and offered to provide some funding for materials. Coincidentally the President of the Deming Garden Club made a presentation and said they would welcome partnering with the LLLs' on greenspace projects.
