There are two levels of local government in Pembrokeshire - the local authority Pembs County Council (PCC) and the 78 Community Councils which represent the first tier of local government - the one closest to the community and with the most local knowledge. The Llanrhian Community Council area encompasses Square & Compass, Croesgoch, Trefin, Abereiddy, Porthgain and Llanrhian. Its activities are governed by legislation and it raises income through its Precept (derived from the local Council Tax) and spends this money on its activities, services and projects. It owns Trefin playpark and Trefin Pavilion.
Llanrhian Community Council is comprised of 9 Community Councillors and a Community Clerk, all of whom are committed to supporting the local community. It is a small but dynamic Council which has increased its support to the community substantially over the last few years.Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of each month, apart from August.
The Council is a statutory consultee for all local planning applications and is consulted about road improvements and public transport. The Chair of the Council is also the County Councillor for Llanrhian Ward . The Council now runs two public toilets, manages the Trefin playpark and Pavilion and facilitates a Connected Communities link project throughout the area with secondary projects of Community Meals and Winter Warmers.

I have been with the council for 6 years. I live up in Treglemais. Away from the Community Council I am a primary school catering assistant and a Community Welfare Responder with the Welsh Ambulance Service.
I’ve lived in Trefin since 2021 and before that not far away. Before retiring I worked with MOD schools overseas. On the Community Council, my interests include planning and environmental matters. I’m also a member of the governing body of Ysgol Croesgoch.
I moved to Trefin in 1986 and ran the village shop there for 13 years. I am the longest serving Councillor on the Community Council. An active member of our local community I want to support it in any way I can.
Born and bred in this corner of Pembrokeshire I am a local farmer who wanted to get more involved with my local community and see different perspectives. I joined the Council in 2012.
I've lived in the area all my life, and my grandparents used to run PenWaun stores in Penparc. I've served on the Community Council since 2022 and played an important part in helping reduce the speed limit in Square & Compass. As a carer I am interested in welfare and safety issues in the area.
I'm Sharon Griffiths and I am pleased and proud to be a member of Llanrhian Community Council. I have been a resident of the ward for my whole life. I also worked in the community as a cleaner/carer until March 2020. Now I work in a local secondary school. I am passionate about our residents, our communiity, our language and our heritage. I look forward to helping support and represent our community moving forward.. Dioch am darllen.
I moved to Pembrokeshire in 2003 and have been Clerk to the Community Council since 2007 as well as working as a Town Clerk for several years.Ilived in Mathry for 15 years but now reside in Neyland.
I am proud to be associated with Llanrhian Community Council and the work that it is doing for the community.
I grew up locally in Llanreithan parish, then moved away for study & career opportunities, returning in 2019 to live in Porthgain. I spent many of the intervening years in China and that experience taught me the value of strong community networks providing mutual support. I truly believe we can be stronger by working together to build a thriving, vibrant local community for the current and future generations to enjoy.
