Global Research Experience in Advanced Technologies (GREAT), UC Davis Jul. 2017 – Sept. 2017

The GREAT Summer Research Program offers the best undergraduate students from the leading universities in Asia the opportunity to gain valuable research experience in science and engineering at UC Davis. I conducted research in the Davis Millimeter Wave Research Center under the supervision of Prof. N.C. Luhmann, Jr. and Dr. Yilun Zhu.

In the end of the program, I received the Outstanding Research Performance Award and an A+ grade at the UC Davis Interdisciplinary Research Symposium.

Research Experience

Research on Super-Resolution Microscopy Imaging Using Evanescent-Wave-Induced Illumination Sept. 2017 - July 2018

Advisor: Prof. Qing Yang State Key Lab of Modern Optical Instrumentation, Zhejiang University

  • Will apply evanescent-wave-induced illumination approach to imaging of biological sample using quantum dot fluorescence labelling method. Also will design and realize the algorithm of the imaging process based on iterative reconstruction and splicing on frequency domain. This work has just begun and is still in progress.

Research on the design of optics subsystem in fusion plasma diagnostics Jul. 2017 – Sept. 2017

Advisor: Prof. N. C. Luhmann, Jr University of California, Davis

  • Developed a new imaging approach in optics subsystem of Electron Cyclotron Emission Imaging system for fusion plasma diagnostics using Bessel beam, which has a much longer depth of field than the traditional approach.

  • Designed a new optical system using the Bessel beam approach for the imaging system in DIII-D tokamak.

  • Performed a platform test to verify the performance and wrote a paper as the first author which has been submitted to journals (Review of Scientific Instruments).
