An Illinois Voter for the Chicago Convention
I am so excited to have been elected as a Global At-Large Delegate to the Democratic National Convention, taking place in Chicago from August 19-22, 2024!
I appreciate everyone who voted for me, endorsed me, and supported me in any way throughout this campaign.
I'm very much looking forward to being part of the Democrats Abroad delegation to this year's DNC!
My dream of attending the DNC will come true in just under two months and I couldn't be more excited!
However, I have discovered that attending this event is more expensive than I would have thought. (And no, it is not an expenses-paid trip. We delegates have to fund our travel expenses ourselves.)
My family and I are prepared to bear this expense ourselves, but it would be great if I could offset some of the costs, which are an estimated $4,000(!).
So I have set up a Patreon, which you can find here. Any donations help, but if you donate at least $50 between now and the convention, you will get a thank-you gift of DNC swag after the convention is over! All donors will get exclusive, behind-the-scenes content before, during, and after the convention and its satellite events.
If you don't want to become a Patron but still want to contribute financially, there are some other options:
Twint (for people in Switzerland)
One-time bank transfer
PayPal
Cash, I guess, if I see you in person????
If you'd like to use one of those options, please email me at voss.liz+dnc2024@gmail.com.
Every little bit helps, and I definitely appreciate you spending your dollars, Francs, or Euros to help me offset the costs of attending the DNC in August.
If you can't donate but still want to help, please feel free to share my Patreon page!
I believe that votes from abroad are the most under-appreciated and overlooked resource of the Democratic Party.
I want to change that by telling other delegates about all the important work we do and what an amazing resource VFA.org is for all US citizens living abroad.
I promise that I will attend every event available to me during the Convention, both talking DA up and gaining vital information and ideas for us to use in the months between the DNC and the election.
I got involved with Democrats Abroad Switzerland in 2017, after the previously-unimaginable happened and I told my husband we couldn’t move back to the US for at least four years. I have stayed involved with Democrats Abroad because I believe in the mission and have found a group of people who share my values and help make living abroad feel more like home.
We are facing yet another “most important election of our lives,” and I want to be sure that I do everything I can to help as many Democrats win up and down the ballot, all across the US. Attending this year’s DNC in my home state of Illinois to cast my vote for Joe Biden would be an honor and a privilege.
My delegate information page on the DA website can be found here.
I have participated in DA at the chapter, national, regional, and global levels.
DA Switzerland helped lead the way in these areas.
I will use these relationships to talk about DA and Vote From Abroad during the week of the DNC.
When my family goes "home," it is to Peoria, IL, and we fly into Chicago O'Hare.
In September 2021, I began pursuing a Master in European Global Studies at the Europainstitut at the Universität Basel. This program combines methods and theories of law, economics, history, and social sciences to examine Europe in its global context. My studies are helping me to better understand the US and European impact on global policy and politics, both historically and today.
