2012, silkscreen on reflective mylar, 34" x 218"

This repeating pattern print imagines our human influence on the Earth in geological time as layers of strata of the current era. Many geologists have proposed a renaming of this epoch: "Anthropocene," after the human traces on Earth that can be seen in the geological record since the advent of agriculture over 11,000 years ago, and certainly since the Industrial Revolution, nuclear testing, and evidence of the 6th mass-extinction. The image is a compressed composite that includes gravel, an American flag, a wheat field, Mount Rushmore, rubble, and an illuminated industrial cityscape.
