Livonia Lightning Cheer Club

Established in 2023

The Livonia Lightning Cheer Club was established in 2023 by Livonia Stevenson Varsity head cheer coach, Melani Kieling, Junior Varsity head cheer coach, Heather Hill, and assistant coach Izzy Burling. LLCC has been a labor of love and a long time coming!

This program offers a unique experience for all Livonia middle school students. We pride ourselves on fostering a community where every athlete is not just part of a team, but a family. With a legacy of excellence at Livonia Stevenson, we've become a powerhouse in the competitive cheerleading world. 

We provide dedicated coaches with experience and a deep understanding of the competitive cheer landscape committed to nurturing talent and building champions. Our top of the line gym equipment and facilities help to create a safe environment that encourages growth in stunting and tumbling. Athletes have the opportunity to practice alongside Stevenson High School Junior Varsity and Varsity teams, seeing and appreciating firsthand what it takes to become a seasoned, competitive cheerleader in a D1 High School. Through team building activities and a supportive atmosphere, we cultivate a bond and a culture that extends beyond the competition mat.

While we thrive on team success, we also prioritize individual progress. Our coaches tailor training plans to suit each athlete's strengths and areas for improvement. 

Cheerleading is a full body contact sport. We educate athletes with a step-by-step, progression based stunting program designed to keep athletes safe while building strength, endurance, and skill. Athletes will gain knowledge and understanding in leadership, teamwork, effective communication, self-discipline, self-confidence, and physical fitness. Our program values integrity, respect, and fair play, creating well-rounded athletes who excel not only in cheerleading, but in life. 

Our season consists of 13 weeks of practice and training in three competitive rounds of cheer to be performed in no more than eight (8) competitions. Round 1 is an exhibition round in which they will not be judged for, but still performed for experience and warm-up purposes. Rounds 2 and 3 are judged by a panel and will count towards their cumulative score for the competition.
